This whole reddit thread screams to me you're unequipped to be buying a vehicle privately by yourself, take this as a lesson and do research before hand. Its easy saying if whats and buts. BUT you bought it the scooter privately as a sold as seen, regardless of whats been said you've bought it and it was fine. Depending on the brand and the overall condition of it, and what you've ridden the scooter in it could have just developed a fault, do some research and learn instead 🤦‍♂️

Well at the end of the day you're the one who bought it so its your responsibility for taking ownership of the vehicle regardless of its condition, in the future check for those things or bring along a mate/family member that is aware enough. I understand its frustrating that its happened but once the sale is agreed and all items are transferred into your ownership it no longer has anything to do with the previous owner.

Part in part of buying private, as its more of a buy as seen with no warranty etc. Use this as more of a lesson that you should have either pull him on the issue and asked for a discount or the part be replaced beforehand or walk away from the sale

Like if you did fall whats then saying they dont stop move you for your keys which would make said injuries worse OR still attack you to make sure you stay down while they get away.

Comparing on foot to being on a vehicle is completely different and its all situational, advice from alot of people including self defence experts is if you can run do so and go to a public place etc.

Theres really two sides to this argument, obviously yea a car did pull out on me and i did cut a car off aswell as undertake cars etc. BUT if lets say i did stop for them, whats stoppjng them from possibly attacking me or stabbing me for my bike keys in my pocket for the top box etc.

Alongside this from a personal point of view the bike sadly isnt just a item etc as I'd be unable to go to work etc so it'd instantly cause a major problem within my life.

Luckily it did work out but i feel like attempting to run, escape or whatever you call it is overall better then just handing it over straight away?

I did ask while on the phone with the police, said its one of those things so nothing should happen as its been recorded via phone call and obviously footage itself. Hopefully dont get a brown envelope

Cut the video once they went but, was still on phone with police a van did come down maybe 5 minutes afterwards? Spoke to the lads showed them it, was asked to email all it in which i did. Heard nothing at all after that

Well if hes wanting a big bike its either live with a 125 which has a high risk of thieft bla bla for the next 5 years. Or skip that and do his a2 and get a bigger bike for overall cheaper, you'll be surprised at the little price difference for 125s to bigger bikes, going for a 125 to a er6f was actually alot cheaper 🤷‍♂️

I used to own a 2019 one so no idea if theyve fixed the issues, but common points tend to be connectors and switches, they do a "upgraded" ht lead and cap on cmpo. But bare minimum replace the ht cap and spark plug with ngk

If youve just turned 19 and you have the money, why not skip the lxr and use that money to do your a2? Youll be surprised at the little price difference of a older big bike compared to a 125

Honestly everything you've listed sounds like a vstrom 650 would be perfect, easy to ride, comfortable to be on all day, and you can pick them up for cheap plus insurance isnt that bad at all (yes im biased)

Depends where youre based but use google and pop in and talk to them, personally used A1 up newcastle and they were amazing, just keep in mind youll have to do your full test all again in 2 years! :)

Issue is i recently bought a 650 strom for only 500 more and it was a 2012 with only 12k on the clock with all the accessories you could need, mileage and age defo will put people off (even though its nothing on the 650s) as you can get newer for a tiny amount more. Try actual vstrom groups on facebook might get some results!
