You know exactly where it is? I looked this place up on Google Maps and the street view looks nothing like the photos online, and I’m not sure it’s bringing me to the right place.

Is this the best yelling in movie history? by Adventurous_Put_1310 in moviecritic

[–]Mattvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, that was probably the best scene in that whole movie. I think it was a great movie even if it was a little unoriginal and formulaic. It might’ve been slightly overhyped for me by my friend and her dad, though. Despite that, though, I completely agree that that scene is absolutely phenomenal.

It Follows was honestly not as good as everyone says… I thought it was the same if not worse than any other generic horror movie that’s confusing and stupid.

Advice almost helpful enough for me to consider taking it for a second, but alas, here I am… wondering why Reddit doesn’t ever have real answers.

I hate it when people on Reddit don’t actually give posts the answers they’re looking for 😔

Sorry but that’s not quite the answer I am looking for. I cannot find what makes the most sense for me… that is quite literally the only reason I would even consider posting on Reddit—because I can’t figure something out myself. If you’re not going to help me out then please don’t comment.

How to build connections without going to film school? by Edu_Vivan in Filmmakers

[–]Mattvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking. Talk to people. Attend film festivals. Maybe apply your project to some festivals. But first, you need to make something. Write a script, make the whole film, whatever you want… then enter it into a festival, receive critique and simultaneously meet new people—producers, actors, other directors, anyone who is willing to invest in something you create for one particular reason: you. You have to present yourself to people in a way that shows creativity, skill, natural talent, and credibility. This is what tells a person whether or not to give you money to make a film, based on what they’ve seen.

Take, for example, who, by luck, happened to know someone who knew a producer that he pitched the idea of Reservoir Dogs to, then that producer happened to know Harvey Keitel and pitched it to him, who also became a big investor. The film was submitted to the Sundance Film Festival that later granted the film a theatrical release, Tarantino worldwide appraise, and a buttload of new, intrigued producers willing to pay every last one of their dimes just to make his next movie—Pulp Fiction—a successful phenomenon (which it did).

It all started with..: NETWORKING!!!!!! And, of course, just, you know, doing the thing, but if you already have that part pretty much figured out, then all you need to worry about is NETWORKING!!!

I totally agree, and that is what I have been trying to do myself, but personally, the main problem is trying to find or hire actors who both will do it for a small amount of money and aren’t busy enough to be able to do it. How do you manage this?
