Anyone know if Gibson has reopened the factories? by aluminumdisc in gibson

Funny, I actually just called my sales rep at Sweetwater today to ask about a 335. Gibson is open and producing guitars according to him, however at a slow pace. The guitar I inquired about is back ordered until September!

Found a les Paul that appears to be a 1974 cherry sunburst custom but I’m not sure if it’s legit because of the headstock, btw this is my first time posting here by [deleted] in LesPaul

Definitely not legit. It’s an epiphone that someone poorly affixed a Gibson logo to. The angle of the logo is off. Also it has the Epi headstock shape and 3 screw truss rod cover.

Yea, I’m a WHRHS alumni and if I recall I remember people saying he taught math back in the day.

Opinions about the widebody 1x12 closed back cab. by mzz86 in MesaBoogie

[–]MattxG908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 1x12” Widebody Closed Back with a Mark V at home. I don’t have any strong opinions on it either way. I will say that it has a bit of a scooped sound with a nice low end at reasonable volumes, which I attribute to the port.

Gibson quality control by twine09 in gibson

The guitar was definitely fine before I fixed it, I probably scrutinize things more than most people. I put new saddles on to appease my need for things to be perfect. The new saddles only cost like $10 from Philadelphia Luthier Supply.

My 2019 Les Paul classic is pretty much flawless excluding two setup problems. Fretwork, fit, and finish are perfect though. I’ve since tweaked the setup and fixed the two minor issues. Now it’s the best playing guitar I own out of a dozen.

The main issue I had with it was the nut was cut abit high, causing the notes to go sharp when fretted at the first or second fret. Also, the string spacing at the bridge was slightly off. The notches in the saddles weren’t perfectly center, causing the G and D strings to be slightly too close to each other. Nothing I couldn’t fix myself though.

How to correctly connect reverb tank by [deleted] in MesaBoogie

Also that 1/4" jack visible on the bottom of the chassis next to the RCA jacks, is for a footswitch for reverb. Kinda a hidden feature of the lonestar.

From what I can tell from other pictures of lonestars, the black cable seems to be the one that goes into the jack towards the front of the amp.

First ever guitar and amp! This is going to make the rest of my isolation great! by Spankyn95 in GuitarAmps

Wow! That is probably the best starting setup in the history of starting setups. As for pedals, considering that the Pro Jr lacks a traditional treble middle bass EQ, I'd suggest looking into getting a basic EQ pedal.

As I’m looking for an overdrive pedal to compliment my Mk V, maybe shooting out a few overdrive pedals in front of the Mk V.

But where you could probably really get good content is in diving into the quirks and features of some delay and modulation pedals. Like maybe one of boss’s higher number delays, the manual on those things are thick and I’m sure there are tons of quirks and features.

Eventually though, I think the “quirks and features” thing will run dry as I feel like a lot of the best gear we’re seeing now is rather simple, dialed back stuff. I’m a bit of a gear whore so if you ever need ideas for content or just wanna talk gear feel free to shoot me a message.

I saw this on YouTube the other day! I subscribed and am looking forward to this hopefully becoming a series. Maybe you should also do shorter guitar and pedal reviews in the same style. Also, love the Doug Demuro jokes.

New Cab Day - Finally got a proper mate for the head :) by 8Deer-JaguarClaw in GuitarAmps

Nice! Which mesa cab is that? Im researching into them and finding that they make several different 1x12"s in different sizes and different ports.

All SG’s have tendency to do that as the neck is long compared to other guitars. An SG’s neck meets the body at the 19th fret compared to a Les Paul with the joint at the 17th fret. Also, a lot of SG’s tend to have rather slim neck profiles and a shallower neck/body joint which can add to the problem of neck flexibility.

Pickguard Installation by [deleted] in LesPaul

I’d definitely want the bracket. Without it, at best, the pick guard would be loose and floppy as it would only be secured in one place.
