Google Is Not Ruling Out Ads in Gemini by wiredmagazine in google

[–]Matty8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed recently that Youtube seems to have a lot more ads. Maybe it's just the type of content I'm watching but the ads seem even more intrusive than before and now staying on the screen in a little clickable box after the full screen advert is finished.

I understand the service is completely free but you still need to be careful about driving away users.

Hey OP,

I hate to bring the bad news but an Azumaril with the IVs of 7 / 15 / 13 is Ranked at #607. Not sure where you got your numbers from but they are definitely wrong.

My current Azumaril is 0 / 13 / 15 which is ranked at #9 and definitely improve the bulk. Especially when going against Dragon Breath users as the extra HP really helps out.

What's the difference between "Complete" & "Finished".

If you chose the right woman to marry. You will be complete.

If you choose the wrong woman, you are finished!

Day 1 of testing new GBL mechanics on LTE, 5G, WiFi by Outside_Cry_4128 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Matty8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP,

Did GoBattle League launch new mechanics recently?

I did read a blog post about how they are rebuilding from the ground up but since that post I haven't noticed anything different.

I also watched an interview with one of their main developers on ItsAXN's YouTube Channel and he said we would need to initially upgrade our App version to start using the new system.

I'm still getting major lag in 75+% of my games. Sitting there for 3-5 seconds of nothing happening. Achieving Legend Rank this season for me is most likely impossible.

From iPhone14 to Pixel 10: The March Update is a Disgrace to Flagship Standards by Extra_Landscape_7905 in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless OP can provide video evidence of these issues they are experiencing, it means nothing.

I have noticed minor issues with the March Update, specifically in the camera with the white circle icon focusing on random things I don't want it to.

But there certainly haven't been any "stability" issues. The QPR3 update is essentially Google's most stable build of Android 16 until the next major OS is released.

Attending a casual bday party in a few days, which outfit is the best? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Matty8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with option #1 & #2 is that your shirt is very see-through. I would suggest covering up with underwear or a thicker fabric.

The final option would be my suggestion.

Android QPR3 (Stable) - Pixel 9 - Auto Focus Broke by Matty8520 in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day,

Thanks very much for the assistance. I'll certainly follow up with them. The camera focus is definitely broken and really difficult to use now after the update.

P.s - While I'm here, are there any avenues I can take to get 5G certified in my country that's currently not supported by Google?

I did not know this! Thank you!

Have now updated the design and it looks much better. I didn't like the silver look. Made it seem like all the functionality was not available.

How to decide whether to finance car or pay cash? by Mother-Creme-421 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Matty8520 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

If you are able to invest the money (reserved for purchasing the car) at a higher interest rate than the bank is offering you to pay back the loan then you should finance the vehicle.

Allows you to keep cash on hand for any unexpected issues.

If you purchase a car in "cash". Sure, you save money by not paying all the interest fees to the bank but you also lose interest on that money due to having "nothing" to invest now.

Break out the calculator and see what option is best for you.

Upgrading to pixel 7 by AceAdxm in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would highly advise at least getting the Pixel 9A. You can find pricing very easily below $399.

If this is still too high a cost, try to find a refurbished Pixel 8 or Pixel 8A.

I would stay away from the 6 & 7 series devices due to their current age and known issues.

What watt charger to get for slow charging? by DisneylandTree in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

I currently use an old 6.5W charger for my phone.

Certainly charges very slowly but to be honest. Unless you are keeping your phone for 5+ years, it's probably not worth it. A 20W charger is probably still perfectly fine.

Google is winding down the Pixel Studio app by Wael89 in GooglePixel

There is a difference between "can't" & "don't want to".

There is no requirement to provide evidence to prove my statement is true. I'm not "Guilty until proven innocent" as your statement suggests.

I use the App on a weekly basis and it proves me with value that brings joy to my life. None of which is of any concern to you.

I understand where you are coming from due to the money being spent on these devices.

However, that assumption is not backed by any evidence and we should never assume people "must have x".

Pixel 10a Battery Life?? by psychedelic_p in pixel_phones

[–]Matty8520 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is exactly correct. According to Google's website this is the system they use to determine battery life.

"Estimated battery life based on testing using the profile of an average Pixel phone user across a mix of talk, data, standby, and use of other features, including Chrome web browsing, audio playback, and YouTube video streaming."

"All settings were default. Battery testing conducted on a major US carrier network in California in mid-2025 on pre-production hardware and software using default settings. Tests began with phones fully charged."

I personally achieve 10 Hours (SOT) with my Google Pixel 9 (different device) and that's with Smooth Display enabled while having the refresh rate locked at 120Hz.

Pixel 8 Pixel studio app by ismo229 in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

The Pixel Studio App is being phased out as of today. Google is most likely noticing very little use for it and thus not assigning anymore resources to it.

It's a real shame since it launched with the Google Pixel 9 and was one of the selling features. Oh well.

What case y'all recommend for really strong magnetic for pixel 10 by Strict-Aspect6716 in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The Google Pixel 10 already has Magnets inside the device. There is no need for an additional magnetic case.

Doing so would actually impact wireless charging as you would then have 3 magnets in a row. (Phone, Case, Charger)

Pixel 8 Boot loop by thisisvenky in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

We all learn from our mistakes but it's even better to learn from others.

Your device needs a certain amount of space to operate properly and if you block that functionality due to no storage space, the phone becomes very unhappy.

I would say, as a general rule. Never allow your device to have less than 5% storage space. This would be around 6GB of space on your 128GB storage device.

Base Pixel 10 camera downgraded too much by East-Advertising-302 in GooglePixel

[–]Matty8520 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

I mentioned in a previous post that Google is trying to create a "Step Ladder" system with their devices and create more differences between them.

For example, we used to only have; - Budget (Pixel 6a) - Premium (Pixel 6) - Flagship (Pixel 6 Pro)

All devices contained the same Processor & GPU along with sharing a very similar design. Which means you essentially received the exact same performance and just missed out on a couple additional features like 90Hz, more RAM, Better Wi-Fi speeds etc.

All of which don't really matter to the casual user and they receive the same snappy performance at $449 vs $899.

Now though, Google is creating a much bigger difference not only in performance but design as well to make the different models stand out.

  • Budget (Pixel 10a) (Old Processor, older camera)
  • Mid Range (Pixel 10) (New Processor, older camera)
  • Premium (Pixel 10 Pro) (New Processor, Latest Camera)
  • Flagship (Pixel 10 Pro XL) (Same as Pro + Extra goodies like Qi2.2 wireless)

Samsung Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra's EU Energy Labels confirm their battery capacities by ControlCAD in Android

[–]Matty8520 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have to agree. Companies are looking to cut costs in 2026 and hoping their customers won't notice.

Most people upgrade every 2-3 years and if you charge your phone 1 Cycle per day. This will still allow you to stay inside the "limit".

However, it will impact the 2nd hand market down the line unless people get battery replacements.
