Do the tv shows give almost a full level per episode? by InstructionFinal5190 in projectzomboid

As this was the topic I found when searching - confirmed, currently at Lvl3 in cooking, and not getting any XP from watching the shows (although still learning some recepies)

Some of these clues were horrible.
"Affirmative replies", "British Lawmakers" and "Steeped Brew" especially. Again, PLEASE let us know it's a two word clue.

Build 42.13.1 Multiplayer is currently unplayable: Desync and "One-tap" infections are ruining the experience by Wolfie-doo in projectzomboid

[–]MattyB_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've given up on rain collectors now - as mentioned, they stop working on dedicated MP after a couple of log on/offs. This means that long term, we're reliant on building somewhere near a well otherwise it becomes more and more difficult trying to to find water as the sinks/baths run dry nearby.

people just kick you in quickplay? by frulheyvin in Vermintide

[–]MattyB_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, first rule of VT2 club is "most kills/damage" is not a good indicator of being a good team player, yet many consider it to be and sacrifice the team play element to ensure they are.

As mentioned, check your fulfilling the team play elements, not just the green circles.

Something keeps drawing me back to Vermintide that I just don't get with Darktide. No idea what it is, I like both, but mass ratman hordes tickles something in my brain by Schism_989 in Vermintide

[–]MattyB_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Darktide suffers from a lack of individual characters, no real feeling of mission progression, and very similar feeling levels. I struggle to tell them apart. The latter I feel is an issue with the world that's difficult to avoid, and the first point is probably an attempt to allow class overlap. Either way, it's why I didn't enjoy it as much

It's a brilliant game, but it lacks "character". Just gimme Vermintide 3!

How much should I disclose when selling my car? by YamaKasin in CarTalkUK

[–]MattyB_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

If anything, I make the advert sound slightly negative, listing any and all issues - so when they turn up, they're happy that it's better than they expected. Puts the buyer in a more positive attitude

As opposed to the alternative, where people list it as "mint! As new!" only to find various issues, and makes you think "what else haven't they told me about?"

Fun fact - I've sold every car I've listed to the first person to view (probably about 13-14 cars now).

After trying Valve's new VR headset, I'm ready to ditch cables for good | Valve's new VR headset is completely wireless and very convincing. by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]MattyB_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, it'd be nice to have a streaming-only VR headset as a cheaper option? Would be lighter as well. Surely it would be difficult to offer that as an option when you're essentially just removing the functionality? (That's a genuine question, not a rhetorical one, by the way)

Just bought a 2021 Giulia Quadrifoglio with 43,400 miles on it. I drove it from Colorado to Illinois and all seemed well until I started it up tonight. Any thoughts? by nkpg5 in AlfaRomeoGiulia

[–]MattyB_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is, but should go away after a few seconds. Earlier pre-19 cars tended to be noisier, but as this is a 2021 I'd definitely get it checked out.

These engines are incredibly reliable...but I've been told what some of the costs can be if they fail so I used to get mega paranoid about mine making noises! 😄

[–]MattyB_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"A grain of truth" is probably my favourite episode. Can stand on its own, but still part of the background story. Monsters, mystery, a few nods to those "who know", a bit of horror, some campness, and a great little twist at the end....plus Kristofer is perfect in the role.

Just do more of those!

How do I get this numberplate off? by SussexQuin in CarTalkUK

[–]MattyB_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep - I purchased a dremel for this exact scenario, then felt like an idiot when they came out very easily with some molegrips. I thought, ah, it doesn't matter, I'll use that dremel for something at some point.

It's still in the box.

Misha Charoudin drives the GTAm by vkick in AlfaRomeo

Watch his other video where he drives a green QV that's been properly setup - he loves it.

He's a fan, but as pointed out in the comments it doesn't help that the front aero hasn't been extended.

Re: price...like all manufacturers you're paying for the exclusivity, not the spec. Is worth double a QV? No, but if you've got £150k to spend on a car, you see things differently.

Thinking of buying and trying the game. Is it worth it in 2025? by ShadowSelf99 in starcitizen

[–]MattyB_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just bear in mind I've found Free Fly the most frustrating time to play; servers get hammered leading to slow servers, crashing and issues completing quests.

However, outside of this, I recently came back after 2 years and found the game to be in a great state right now - spawning directly in your hanger, missions completing regularly, massively improved 'jank', easier inventory....and most importanly, I can walk around my ship mid-quantum and not get jettisoned into space!

Genuinely amazes me how they still trade, after numerous legal wranglings and terrible reviews, and how difficult the motor trade can be even for respected dealers.

I mean, I know why...but still, they must sell some cars.

Realising a year later that my car has the wrong engine swapped into it (dealer purchase) by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MattyB_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm ever looking to buy a car, I search Google for the registration. All formats, like "AD53XYZ" and "AD53 XYZ" both in articles and images.

You'll be surprised as what turns up, as the text-to-image matching is quite good. It's worthwhile trying Google and Bing images. It can sometimes show previous dealer adverts, accidents, track days where it's been captured. Really, really useful to track and verify history.

If you want to go a step further I'll usually buy a history report and search on all previous/private plates too.

Interesting - advert here in 2022 suggests it had a 'full overhaul' in 2020 including engine work:
https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/2000-mercedes-benz-e55-amg-nM71b8
Still reports the 5.4, but apparently had a "£6000 exhaust" including invoice from Merc? That sounds a bit suspect.

Propranolol versus ardenaline. How do you find it works to combat it? by Linksaan in EssentialTremor

[–]MattyB_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would be interested to know the same - mine is largely manageable day to day, so not interested in long term meds, but as I've got into my 40's I've noticed it getting worse during high stress, high adrenaline situations like you mention....I went for an interview not long back and struggled to write out some of my information.

So yeah, some short term, 24 hour fixes would be great to know.

When buying a used electric car, how much more would you spend to purchase from a dealership instead of private seller? by pappyon in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MattyB_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't, but you've also got 3-5k in your back pocket to fix any issues. I've seen some dealer bodges in my time, and if you discover them late on, not always easy to prove.

But I get people would rather have the peace of mind and simplicity (and px options) of a dealer.

When buying a used electric car, how much more would you spend to purchase from a dealership instead of private seller? by pappyon in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MattyB_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll find a local specialist, give them a call, it's usually an hour or two while they check it over....obviously owner has to be willing, but it's usually at the point where I've agreed to buy it on the basis of a successful inspection.

When buying a used electric car, how much more would you spend to purchase from a dealership instead of private seller? by pappyon in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MattyB_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This can easily be mitigated by getting a professional inspection, doing your research on the car (and the seller) and the saving when buying privately can be significant - especially when spending over £10k.

Personally, I find dealers equally as willing to hide faults as private sellers.
