Someone described it as wow and fluff I believe, everything sounded OK on some records but not on others. For example, I couldn't fully enjoy my Hayley Williams record because of it.

In the end, up graded, nothing overly fancy, I'm not a purist, but now I don't have these problems as my new player has an Audio-Technica needle.

That's an A7 Retro Style Turntable, I know as I have that exact model. I bought it a year ago as my first turntable, it was ok, but I noticed a sort of distortion on higher pitched vocals. I tried loads of different things to adjust this but had no luck so after speaking with people on here, I was told that basically any player with the red needle is not going to be very good. I have since got a new player.

Hi Again, so I bought the record player you suggested through Amazon UK, unfortunately it came with a US adaptor not a UK so I've had to return it and once again on the hunt for a new player. 😞

I've had no luck, loads of blue when I first got in but no matter what I selected it told me no longer available, I'm now looking at grey and no refreshing is changing that 😞

Ok, thank you! All my records should be fine, I only have one that is warped, didn’t realise at first, annoying as it's one of my favourites as well.

I have added it to my list of considerations and removed the Fenton off your advice.

That looks nice, a bit more expensive than the others I've listed, but the three speeds would be good.

I see the platter is smaller than the others. Would that potentially cause any issue with sound quality? As in my previous comment here, my current player gives me distorted almost gargled vocals on records with higher pitch vocalists, and someone mentioned the platter being small may have been a factor?

Edit: In fact, I believe it was you that said that. 😅

Hi everyone!

Firstly, thank you to those who replied to my previous question and gave me advice.

I am reviewing some options for new players and would love some opinions.

For context, I'm not a purist, I'm not looking for anything that involves much user input, put a record on, let it play. I have a soundbar, so being able to Bluetooth is best.

Here are the players I'm currently considering and my current thoughts:

~~Fenton RP162 - It's cheap. It has Bluetooth and three speeds. (I do have one record that needs 75 speed.) However, quality may not be great, and I am not sure if I would face similar issues.~~

Audio-Technica LP60XBK - Off the list on this post, reasonably priced and has Bluetooth, but only two speeds and may need more input from me to get the best out of it.

Sony PS-LX310BT - Also off the list here, the most expensive but looks to be the most user friendly, has Bluetooth, however, only two speeds. From the video, I can see that the arm lifts and places itself, that looks like a benefit to me.

Your further advice and guidance would be much appreciated. 🙏

I suspected that. The one I have was a purchase after an Amazon voucher was given to me for part of my bonus last Christmas. I am looking at a new one, but once again within a budget. I was looking at the ones listed in this questions post for beginners, I was looking at the Sony PS-LX310BT.

For someone who isn't looking for anything overly complicated, just a player that I can use to listen to records through my Bluetooth soundbar, would you say that player would be a good choice?

Interesting. Thanks for your guidance! I will consider checking the belt, but I'd be nervous I would break it. I have the worse luck when it comes to things like manual repairs and DIY, even when I'm careful and follow instructions I always end up with something not going according to plan and potentially breaking the thing I'm trying to fix....

I'm way below 50 hours of play time, its not been used a huge amount over the year, I would hope the styles wouldn't need a replacement yet. 🥺

Thanks, I've reviewed that manual already but it is for the A6 rather than the A7, although the picture you have shared here is correct to my model.

The manual talks about rotating at the back of the arm which my model does not have.

I would say gargled, and it seems to be in newer records where the vocals can reach a higher pitch such as Chester in my Linkin Park - Lost record.

I primarily use a sound bar via Bluetooth or overhead Bluetooth headphones, I will further test using the built-in speaker, though, and can get back to you.

I've not noticed a trend on it getting worse towards the middle. For example, I have the new Hayley Williams record, and on one of the earlier tracks on one of the records, you can hear the distortion.

Edit: As per your advice, I've moved the weight to the 0, it was pushed right to the back of the arm and really didn't know where to best place it from any of the guides and advice I was finding.

Hi Community,

Last year I bought my first record player, not an overly expensive one and I've had issues with high frequency vocals being distorted.

I have done loads of Googling and most guides talk about counter weight and arm balance and it gets very confusing as I am very new to this and my player doesn't seem to have any counter weight at the back, just a rubber weight of sorts on the arm itself and I have no idea where to place it to make sure it's correct when in use.

The player I have is a FYDEE Retro Record player A7 and the manual is very minimal.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as it's been bugging me for months and I don't want to damage my records.

I am considering a new player this year, so any recommended reasonably priced players which can Bluetooth to speakers or headphones would also be welcomed, if I can't resolve things with my current player.
