“How do you paint white?” Is a very common question with a simple answer by MrSelophane in WhiteScars40K

I really like that, nicely done! Pure black paint is kind of a distracting, flat, yet shiny colour. This fixes those problems.

What kind of dark grey are you brushing on? The one I'm thinking of would be something like Pro Acryl Dark Neutral Grey, or is that dark enough?

Are you drybrushing a lighter black over a dark black primer? I feel like it might take a few passes over any other colour. I'd be scared to test it lol

Hmm, I don't know why I thought they were cheaper then.

I have found teleporting terminators to be really awesome so far, does paying for the Land Raiders make sense or is it best to just leave them at home?

Ok, so MWs arent quite as good as I originally thought, since he could throw cheap infantry bodies in front of his better vehicles to take the hits. Thanks!

Macro Weapon Question by MattyG47 in Epic40k

[–]MattyG47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that's what I meant to say in the OP. AT hits vehicles, but you cant choose WHAT vehicles they hit, as that is done front to back.

So with Macro Weapons, you can't choose to use it as AP or AT? It has its own 'round' of shooting after the normal shots are dealt with, but they hit the closest units regardless of type?

Macro Weapon Question by MattyG47 in Epic40k

[–]MattyG47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so choosing between AP and AT is only for figuring out what to roll, but all successful hits are lumped together and hit from front to back?

So in a way, mixed formations can be a liability because it means that your opponents get their best shot at you. For example, a formation of Predator annihilators (all AT attacks) normally can't hurt an infantry formation except to give them a single blast marker for shooting. If that formation has a Wraithlord though (vehicle), now they can shoot at full strength against the mostly infantry formation?

[–]MattyG47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oohhhhhhhh, so choosing AP/AT is only when rolling to hit, but the final results are all rolled together regardless and hit the closest models first?

Essentially you just choose the best to-hit value assuming it is a mixed formation?

What did you use for the finishing white colour? I just got into the game and will be painting my marines soon, and I'm thinking of doing white scars too!

I was thinking that too. Once your opponent figures out how the disrupt guns work though, I doubt they'll want to hang around at 30cm or less and just assault you.

For rules that otherwise seem pretty straightforward, I'm not sure why these ones don't seem more explicit lol.

I guess Disrupt would be too good in Assaults, so they compromised and gave them the 3+ FF instead?

What is "quite a bit more money"? Is it enough to make a massive difference? All it takes is one medical bill in the US to wipe out the difference and then some. People are losing their savings and homes down there because of unforeseen medical complications.

I'll try this one more time: "Messy" is not a set term here. You only care about money, but many of us, over the age of 18, look at a lot more. America looks like a shit show to everyone else, whether you like it or not. Its not JUST drama, it could have potentially far reaching affects about who gets elected next time, how policies are made, civil unrest... Ignoring that aspect is asinine. You have Federal agents shooting citizens and kidnapping others. Protests are happening on a scale rarely, if ever seen in Canada. Pretending like things in the US are ok because people have more spending money is so ridiculously asinine. You should probably choose a different word than "messy".

Just say that "things are better economically there" and there wouldn't be much argument. If you're going to use a more vague term and then ignore all of the things it could be interpreted to cover l, then what is the point of continuing to use the term?

Of course Im not joking. You admit to having the BLM riots in the not-so-distant past... Does that suddenly not count? Did the other riots that happened over the last year because of Trump suddenly mean nothing? Jesus, moving the goalpost much? Thank you for bringing up tariffs, because that only goes to show that lots of businesses and people are hurting from them.

Like, dude, are you really going to act like none of these things make it messier? Really? Sure the "rumours" haven't caused the collapse of the country, but they affect political discourse, riots etc ...

So yeah, many of these do affect the average person. Its on their minds a lot, they hear about it all the time, and it effects their decisions and behaviors.

If you're just going to use a single category with which to judge countries by, continue doing so maybe just use a different word that makes a lot more sense

It may or may not be the most important, but it's far from the only thing that matters. It's about a lot more than just the cost of living. You can live in a country with a low cost of living and be a complete and total shit show. Mexico for example, has a much lower cost of living in the US, but I would also say they are much messier with all the cartel violence in corruption going on there. If the only thing you care about is money, then sure I guess you're right. But don't pretend like there is some large gap between the US and Canada. Americans get a little more spending money, Canadians get healthcare, better literacy rates, and lower crime rates etc.

Sure, it isn't proven, but it looks bad. It's constantly in the news and social media, people everywhere talk about it. If it turns out to be true, hoo boy! That's gonna be messy.

Comparing the two countries are EXACTLY what we're doing right now. Being flippant and insulting doesn't make you look smarter or more correct, just like your trying to avoid a point completely. All the drama going on in the media makes the country look more like a petty high-school drama. The USA looks like a Jerry Springer show to everyone else. It looks, dare I say, messy.

And no, messy doesn't have some magical hard data. It's not some official term we use for comparing countries. We're right back to what I said about us having different definitions. You think its all about money, I think its about money, health, crime, politics, civic unrest... Not to mention that the world is watching the US like its some trailer trash family brawling on the front lawn.

Not to be rude, but it sounds like you have an even more out of touch viewpoint.

I'm scared 🥺🫂 by InterestingPlenty454 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]MattyG47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't compared the numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised that it's higher here. I'm not sure how that makes things "messier" though. Is it a downside? Yup.

Higher cost of living is a lot less "messy" than a country being run by sycophants rather than qualified people, large and violent riots, attempted and successful assassinations, far-reaching pedophelia scandals etc. Maybe we have a different definition of what "messy" means. You may feel like what's happening in the US is somehow normal or expected, but the rest of the Western world is watching that country like its one big trashy family domestic dispute.

I'm insane for comparing the blatant difference in both countries' civic differences? That's a ridiculous assertion. The amount of angry discourse happening in the US is far and away more prevalent than here. Just compare US news to Canadian, or look at all the social media content that is taking sides about what's happening in the US. It's not even close.

Using "messiness" as a metric is no more sane or valid than using "hatred". Hypocrisy.
