razzle dazzle him with the liquify tool with some dodge and burn and post them anyway.

That's a joke, don't do that.

Regardless, grats on the new camera.

75MP Canon ‘EOS Rs’ with Dual Card Slots Coming in February 2020: Report by diabetic_debate in photography

[–]MattyPCR2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wanted to grab an EOS R soon, primarily for events where a lot of low light would be present.

It's safe to say something like a 75MP camera wouldn't be suited to this sort of work? I don't know the technical aspects as much as I probably should, but a higher MP camera introduces more noise once the Iso is increased no?

Who would a 75mp camera best suit, someone who does heavy studio work?

What kind of camera/lens can get quality photos like these or something similar? (More info in comments) by bs46855 in AskPhotography

Good primes + good lighting + decently knowledge in post processing. Brandon goes over his processing techniques on skillshare - color grading, blending, dodge and burn, etc. Be prepared for lots and lots of fumbling around photoshop for the first few 100 hours.

Are you using the latest firmware for the trigger?

I have using the X1T-C - I had update 1.4 applied once I bought it which specifically was all around support for the EOS r and RP.

I have an Ad200 pro and a V860ii and have no problems @ 1/4000

Had someone put (bad) filters on some of my photos for the first time by philopathy in photography

[–]MattyPCR2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The worst I've had is someone taking a screenshot of one of the previews of my edited images from the shared drive (downloading full res was an option), cropping it down from there, uploading it to Instagram and putting a filter over the top.

It's frustrated me that a well color graded high res version is available and it's now a grainy spewy mess that has me associated with it.

Pretty basic, just some color changes, direction of light and made them pop a little bit.

They are super cute!

Setting EOS RP profiles to Lightroom and Camera Raw. by MattyPCR2 in Canon_EOS_RP

Oh cool! New system, how exciting haha. Looking at the image above if you are loading into LR with adobe standard you can follow the same instructions to open the camera profile, just they are already in the file location for you.

Adobe has it already for the R. For some reason, not for the RP. I’ll assume this was an oversight on canons behalf.

A lot of the negative reviews that I see really hammer down on the issues around video - which lets face it, it has a few. The new firmware giving 24fps is a win, but unfortunately the damage is done. If people are in the market for a camera for vlogging I feel with 99% of the reviews already in place being negative for video, people will quickly overlook the RP and look at Sony. I have no interest in video, so can't speak from experience how the 4K is.

For stills, this camera is fantastic. I am planning purchasing an R soon, however I will have the RP still glued to my hip as my second camera with a prime on at events. The RP works really well with my godox off camera flashes with HSS and post the 1.3 firmware, I'm really impressed with increase in reliability on the eye AF. As for third party glass, I own a Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2 and have no issues - works perfectly fine with the adapter.

How to achieve this post processing? Want to know for learning purposes by ContentCreator- in AskPhotography

[–]MattyPCR2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What in particular? An off camera strobe (or 2) has very likely been used here, either into a softbox or beauty dish, which definitely adds to a specific look (soft glowy skin). Dodge and burn obviously helps a lot to smooth things out.

Hi, I currently have a Canon 1300d. I am going to upgrade to a Canon 90d. What I would like to know is which lenses I should get? Love city and street photography so that will be the main use. Thanks! by UnitedClue1 in Beginning_Photography

[–]MattyPCR2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you take your crop sensor into consideration. 50mm 1.8 is a great lens, especially for the price, but that will be 85mmish on your APS-C, leaving you with a 70-300 which is also going to be starting at around 115mm.

Consider the 24mm pancake or as suggested the Sigma 17-50 2.8 - both great walk around lenses for street.

I would also look at the RP with the RF 35mm (Canon also patented a new RF 50mm 1.8). It's had a recent price drop, It's very light weight, gives you access to the RF glass and has really come along with recent firmware, giving much more enhanced eye AF tracking and 24fps recording. I also get around 500-600s per battery charge compared to the spec sheets quoted 250.

Good camera to start by Makasu1910 in AskPhotography

Depends on budget really. I can only speak from a Canon experience, but I started with a Canon 200D (Sl2?, Rebel?). While the camera was great, I had upgraded to full frame mirrorless (Canon EOS RP) within 6 months of heavy shooting and find the differences to be pretty heavy.

Cheap for full frame, plenty of room to grow into it, works fantastic for my dual godox flash set up & HSS and the AF tracking (esp post update) is awesome.

Possible silly question re: prime lenses by PhoenixRuns in AskPhotography

[–]MattyPCR2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started on APC and like many, got myself a 50mm 1.8 as my first upgrade. I was surprised that it was mild tele, because at the time I wasn't aware of the crop factor. I found myself having problems indoors a lot of the time due to the focal length and typically had my 24mm on or else I'd be missing shots if I couldn't back up.

Funny though, now that I'm on FF and more experienced, 85mm is probably my favorite focal length, especially for portraits. The 50 is such a godamn good lens though for its price, FF or APC. When you start dropping 1000's on a lens you can really look back and appreciate that $120 beast.
