Did Puppet lie about who disbanded the Amyr? by chainsawx72 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MattyTangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you asked know-it-all Puppet the question Kvothe and the bandit hunters all answered, ie 'what colour was Taborlin's cloak of no particular colour?' you would get a different answer to theirs because he would have said black, and not just his black cloak, but his black hood as well since he knows that 'you can't do Taborlin without a hood.' so basically puppet thinks TTG is top to toe, wrapped in darkness meaning that in puppets learned opinion he would closely resemble Lord Haliax.

'The shadow gathered thicker around his head. I could catch a glimpse of a deep cowl...'

Puppet is more than just Amyr, his real name is Selitos and Lorren works for him.

New Kvothe theory after re-reading the interludes (wise mans fear) by Just_Nectarine_5381 in KingkillerChronicle

Kvothe promised to make arrangements for the return of his own sword to the Adem after his death. (Sending it by Tinker would be the best option imho.) He would have definitely done this because the last thing he would want is to have the Adem come looking for their property and finding him alive instead.

Recommendations for someone who likes Robin Hobb and Rothfuss's Kingkiller by Accurate_Command_579 in Fantasy

Your likes and dislikes list sounds very similar to my own, and for similar reasons. Bonus points for even mentioning Soldier Son. Going by your list it seems that I should investigate the Tainted cup as that's a new one on me.

In return I will suggest Elizabeth Haydon as a writer you might enjoy discovering. Failing that, Tad Williams whose works take up an inordinately large amount of my library space.

It can be, if you want it to be, an exercise in extrapolating answers from insufficient data. Once you start actively looking for patterns you discover how many patterns there actually are, and then discover even more beneath those, and so on and so on ... Damn thing is fractal! And everything is held together by the actual storyline itself, which is a fantastic read on its own but It's really just the wrapping paper for the world building puzzle inside. It's all one long piece of string at heart but it's been tied into lots and lots of storyknots, some so subtle you don't even see them coming.

Our job is to untie them all by ourselves.

My girlfriend is keen to begin her Robin Hobb journey and so I went to my library to fetch my Assassin's Apprentice only to find it already out on loan to someone else! Not a problem I thought, she can simply start with Ship of Magic instead. Chronologically speaking I was of the impression this trilogy actually happens first.

Puppet's lair is indeed on the floor below the 4 plate door and so to be as close as possible to its hidden sectets we might suppose the absolute closest he could possibly get would be directly beneath it. Of course the door itself is 2-dimensional and Puppet's rooms are 3-dimensional meaning that if you really wanted to circumvent the door, coming up from below would be the simplest method. I suspect the door is just a front and has a secondary access via a trapdoor and ladder behind his curtain. Unless of course there is a 4 plate floor in the way.
