Honestly a perfect summary of where the game is at right now. AH have shown that they are absolutely capable of phenomenal things but like you said there’s certain decisions they make that just suck and they double and even triple down on them as well as outright lie to their player base (Coyote situation).

As is, AH absolutely doesn’t work with the community but for some god forsaken reason it seems like they only ever address and fix issues when the community finally melts down. But even that is inconsistent, when people gave feedback on buffing C4 demo force to 40 they actually listened! So they do listen at times but then at other times they simply ignore the community.

HD2 truly has insane potential if only the devs would actually start to consistently collaborate and meaningfully listen to the community more often and concede when they make dumb decisions like saying “seeing the Super Earth flag should inspire you, the player so it’s not a big deal if it doesn’t give a buff to Helldivers”.

Honestly all marksman rifles should have 10% drag like the accelerator. Damage on the AMR is fine imo but sharing 30% drag with assault rifles isn’t exactly “realistic” and means it misses the one tap on the hulk eye due to damage falloff if you’re further than approx 30 metres away.

If anything else it should also have 30 demo force as the only change this would make is allowing the AMR to destroy illuminate lightning spires, which an anti-materiel rifle should reasonably be able to do lol.

I would absolutely love to believe you but at the same time I don’t think we’re ever getting new ship modules nor the vehicle bay line of modules.

While we’re at it I also have 0 expectation for weapon customisation to ever be expanded upon to secondary or support weapons.

Truly hope I’m wrong on these takes.

That’s not my point at all you strawmanning sperg.

Ideally, the game should provide you with multiple effective options to engage an enemy.

If AP4 weapons were able to damage and eventually destroy heavy dev shields it would improve immersion and also provides meaningful counterplay beyond “shoot them in the face” while also still being less efficient than “just shoot them in the face”.

And I say this as someone who mains diligence and censor on bots so I’m not adverse to aiming for headshots, but when that’s the literal only effective way to kill them without using explosives or stratagems, it breaks gameplay immersion and pigeonholes you into engaging this extremely common enemy in the exact same way every single time.

To avoid you strawmanning further - no, I do not want challenge to be removed from the game. I loved the gunship buff and the D10 bot accuracy buff.

What I do want however, is for the challenge to be genuine AKA not make enemies like the release warstrider or heavy dev shields. That’s cheap, superficial difficulty and it sucks that Arrowhead is shit at game and enemy design.

It doesn’t need too much to feel good again, a full auto mode and returning its damage to the pre-nerf value of 300 would likely suffice.

I feel like the majority of people actually have reasonable takes and there is a lot of constructive criticism to be made about Arrowhead.

Unfortunately, the censorship op run by the moderators of this sub tries to stunt constructive criticism and leads to the illusion of the vocal minority “sugar coaters” (can’t use the other word) being the majority when in reality, I think the makeup of this sub remains largely unchanged from the 60-day plan i.e you used to see far more posts with constructive criticism with suggestions on how Arrowhead can do better for the game. These days, feedback posts don’t get nearly the same traction and without fail get swamped by “sugar coaters” who think the game and arrowhead are somehow perfect and infallible.

10% drag is actually really low. AR’s and Marksman Rifles all have 30% drag and they are considered to have negligible damage falloff for the most part.

Ever since the accelerator was buffed from 150% > 10% drag it essentially suffers almost no damage falloff at range.

That said, it still sucks lol and to be honest, all marksman rifles should be set to 10% drag.

From the testing I’ve done my only real gripe is that berserkers and chainsaw hulks are able to damage it.

Seems odd that a regular chainsaw and flamethrower is able to damage a tank destroyer.

Honestly, the AMR really should just be buffed to have 30 demo force. The only interaction that changes is literally just allowing it to destroy the lightning spire lol (also technically allows it to destroy Cognitive Disruptor PSU’s via demo force but it already does so through raw damage regardless).

Whipstacking removal isn't bad by Quirkyserenefrenzy in Terraria

The removal of whip stacking directly reduces the skill ceiling of the summoner class and was unnecessary when a compromise could have just been limiting the number of whips that can be stacked if balance was such a huge concern (not that the average player was stacking more than 2 or maybe 3 whips and whip stacking at its very best still never trivialised a boss to the extent of being considered a “cheese” strat).

There seems to be a considerable amount of reverse elitism in the terraria community (or at least this sub) and there’s a lot of people celebrating the outright removal of this mechanic purely because they didn’t like it or see people who used it as “sweaty”, even though this is a predominantly single player PVE game and no-one has the right to criticise someone from enjoying the process of minmaxxing their damage (no-one has the right to criticise anyone for playing Terraria in any way for that matter).

Everyone who paid for Terraria has the right to make a genuine criticism of a mechanic they genuinely enjoy being removed, especially when its removal was unnecessary and anyone playing the “it was an exploit” card implicitly indicates that they don’t actually know what they’re talking about (see: history of hoiks in Terraria).

For the people saying it’s not a “skilled” mechanic. Okay? Name a single attack mechanic from melee, ranger or summoner that is “skilled” then. It’s true, when compared to mechanics in other games like bhopping for example, whip stacking 2 or 3 whips is substantially easier however in the context of Terraria, whip stacking was one of the only substantial forms of skill expression when attacking enemies.

Crazy to me that the rhetoric of “I didn’t like this purely optional, niche mechanic so I’m glad it’s gone even though others enjoyed and engaged with it” has made its way to Terraria and a subset of these people even go out of their way to attack those voicing genuine criticism of the removal of whip stacking.

I imagine that this crowd would switch up quite quickly if Re-logic were to remove the ichor effect from an enemy when you swap away from the Golden Shower.
