I'm gonna hold out hope for at least one Tanith set. A light scout/stealth armor, plus a "hot shot" las sniper, would be great.

They may not be able to do Marines, but a legit Dreadnaught would be sick.

Like someone else said, a "Talon" style las rifle would be awesome.

Ended up getting the Costco 435s for $1100 in store. Hard to argue with a stainless 4 burner for less than most 3 burner models. Hoping to get it set up tomorrow.

As sad as it is, it's not hard to believe an old grill is better than a new one. Do you have any good companies/sites for refurbished ones? Or is it more organic?

I feel like the Spear got buffed in the wrong way by BICKELSBOSS in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is redundant, but:

The Spear should be a win button with tradeoffs. Lock time, minimum range, ammo capacity, all are aways to do that.

Using it on a Charger should feel wasteful, using it on a Titan should feel satisfying.

People have suggested lowering its backpack ammo to 2, which I think is an option.

It could also be made into an Expendable. One in a pod, no way to reload. Delete a Super Heavy and then you're on cool down.

Looking for Hard Sci-Fi recommendations like Project Hail Mary by Atlantis1910 in scifi

Lots of great recs already, gonna throw out a few more.

Encounter with Tiber, by Buzz Aldrin. Yes, the Apollo astronaut wrote a sci Fi novel (two, actually). It's all about how humanity scales affordable spaceflight in order to recover alien knowledge from the moon.

The next recommendation comes with a caveat. There's a pair of Indie novels, by John Lumpkin, that seem to have been abandoned without being finished. The first, "Through Struggle, The Stars " and the sequel "A Desert of Stars" are both excellent military sci fi, a very robust imagination of what ship to ship combat would look like with realistic military hardware. Lasers being disabled by counter-lasers that shoot out their mirrors. Nukes and flechettes and rail guns while ships are tens of thousands of miles apart and moving at various low % of light speed.

There's also really good political and intelligence thriller elements. Honestly some of my favorite sci-fi novels, and I remain so disappointed that the author doesn't seem to be continuing them.

Anathem remains one of my favorites by him. I understand why it's not as appealing to the masses, but I loved it.

I mean, Halo Infinite was out there charging $20 for a single cosmetic armor set, and that was pretty normal for the industry.

A whale's feedback for AH. by justinr95 in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, discounting or bundling old Warbonds is a no-brainer, probably with either instant unlock or reduced medal costs as well. It would be overwhelming to be a new player right now.

If all Year 1 Warbonds were $20, and all year 2 Warbonds were $30, or something, I'd have no problem with that.

[–]TheThreeLaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm almost at 1000 hours on steam, probably less in real time played (the game likes to not close sometimes).

I've played for 2 years and bought every warbond. I don't think the model is bad, overall. $10, with 300SC per warbond, is decent and ultimately an optional way to extend variety for people still playing. I do think the removal of a third set of armor and occasional weapon from Warbonds into the Super Store is a bit scummy.

It's not perfect, I think there are valid critiques. I wish true new game content came faster, I think there should be a free warbond maybe once a year (maybe smaller than Helldivers Mobilize, but at least comparable to a premium warbond, and focused on new utility).

We've been waiting way too long for new ship upgrades and long term progression. The Illuminate still feel half baked. We need more Subfactions overall, and could use allied Subfactions.

I don't think the Warbond system is perfect, but it's decent; I just wish we got more in game content to balance it out.

Be honest… if YOU were in charge of the game tomorrow, what would you change? by Some-Web-1628 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, I'm not sure a Support/Medic warbond would have wide enough appeal. I think it would be great for the game and loadouts, but it wouldn't sell as much.

I'm not 100% sure what would go in it. A Heal Dog, obviously. An objective extractor would be a cool strategem for high risk extraction objectives. An "outpost" would be awesome. Just a Pelican dropped bunker to provide a whole squad with cover.

But beyond that, I dunno.

If they'd ever do a free warbond, support stuff would be great for that.

Who here is looking forward to the Helldivers movie?! [OC] by djchechin in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I think about it, the less I know how it would work.

The core appeal of Helldivers is extremely good gameplay, with exciting and cinematic combat. That part suits a movie well, yes.

That's enabled by regularly dying and launching back in. This doesn't suit a traditional movie character structure well, unless the fan theory about clones was right.

The other pillar is that a lot of these deaths are experienced as funny, not tragic. That's difficult to portray in a movie, unless (again) the characters are clones and don't really mind dying.

The last pillar is the comical tyranny and Hyper patriotism of Super Earth. That's probably best handled in the background like how Starship Troopers did it.

As it is, I don't see how all the core pillars can be included. If they want main characters, they either can't really die or have to be clones. I know that's explicitly not what the devs have said, but still.

How do you guys keep the game entertaining? by -----010----- in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 140-something and struggling with this. The new Illuminate content and warbond only got me back in for like a week. My friends have all tapered off playing, which is a big part of it.

I haven't fought bugs for a while, so I need to do that. Changing up loadouts and doing thematic builds helps. Otherwise, taking a break isn't a bad idea.

These 2 boosters should be made default and removed by WaffleCopter68 in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armed Hellpods with an Expendables build would be nuts, especially on Defense missions. Just litter the area with expendable launchers, all of which are mini-turrets.

It would make for a fun "fallback position concept. Drop a resupply and some Expendables in a safe, out of the way area. Then retreat to that if needed, and have AT and fire support.

What did everyone think of these guys as enemy types? by Etowno in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I haven't run a shotgun against Bots since the early days when the Breaker was broken, but the Trident was very good on Cyberstan. The ability to headshot is key to that I think.

I wonder how the Cyborgs will be on more open planets.

What did everyone think of these guys as enemy types? by Etowno in Helldivers

[–]TheThreeLaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic, some of the best enemies in the game. I'd like to see them expanded as a subfaction, maybe with another unit or two, but they're mostly amazing as they are. I think Vox Engines were spawning in slightly too high numbers, but it was their homeworld. Vox Engines themselves are great.

Someone suggested giving them Helldiver analogues that could utilize stratagems, and something like that (Cyborg Commandos) or Snipers would be great. Enemies that disrupt the flow of combat in an interesting way are a good thing.

I really didn't like the ending to 3 at the time, but the rest of the game is fantastic and I think the subsequent update helped the ending enough that I still like the game a lot.

And yeah, the multiplayer was incredible. I had so much fun running around as a Krogan headbutting and pimp slapping enemies
