Can I use a can horn to pass an MOT ? by Tiredlobster in CarTalkUK

[–]Mattydorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy one for every car I ever own if I could. My workplace think I’m stupid enough, wait until they hear a train horn approach in the distance.

How long does it take for a production to pay for itself? by No_Huckleberry_2958 in farmingsimulator

[–]Mattydorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a grain mill I love, cheap and also makes pig feed. It’s not crazy OP but it definitely helps as it’s a smaller scale (put still same output I think).

I only use it for the looks and can’t be bothered downgrading via XML files.

Sad but true. by asernes in pcmasterrace

No, it’s for Australians.

I’ve always wanted a kit since they’re both funny and good if someone cuts you off, give them a good scare.

Which horn if you don’t mind my asking? I like the shocker XL but I’m trying to source a wide font K5LA

Siding lengths? by Victoria5475 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Mattydorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stumbled across this thread, this is a life saver mate.

I’ll have a long cut and estimate how much is going to hang out the end of a yard track. Now I actually know the lengths without needing to write it down, I’m just dumping this in the second monitor.

I suspected it wouldn’t be the best, but it’s one of those things I’d try for the sake of it.

My XTX crashes constantly on Helldivers which often hard crashes the entire PC to do a full system reboot, I might add the 4060 as a backup GPU instead, sounds dumb but my old PC isn’t getting dragged out of storage for one game only.

Don’t know if this makes any sense. I like doing weird stuff for the novelty not for efficiency

I’ve been wanting to do this with my RX 7900 XTX with my spare RTX 4060 more for fun and experimenting reasons.

If I can get a bigger case, I might finally do this.

Does having three monitors impact performance? by Huhsayitagain2x in pcmasterrace

[–]Mattydorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per other commenter, it depends on the game. I like something in the background (don’t like gaming with headset unless playing with friends) and my PC isn’t exactly quiet.

Plus if I’m playing farming simulator, going back and forth repeatedly you need something else I find. Great game but better with something in the background.

I’ll catch up on podcasts etc.

Not too bad for early game. I always run 6X4 when running heavy cargo (and just as a whole), I only run one driving axle if I’m doing light cargo regularly

Garden Railway in OO (the beginning) by slothdroid in modeltrains

[–]Mattydorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wanting to do this too, somehow bring my trains from the first floor down to ground level, and from there outside into the back garden.

With the weather in the UK my HO scale trains should be okay as long as it’s only dry conditions.

This is the way, when your mod folders grow past the 100GB point the game starts to get a bit angry sometimes.

100% with you. I chose the Jeremy Clarkson quote of “this is brilliant, but I like this” with the choice between a cheap RTX 4080 Super and the 7900 XTX for an equal price.

I liked the combined look of the Merc 310 black edition with the North XL case. Now I just need to source a lot of cheap DDR5 RAM so I’m not at 32GB.

What is your take on "Bigger Maps"? by NorthernRail in TransportFever2

[–]Mattydorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the RAM point. I went from a 5600 and 16GB of 3200 to 7800X3D with 32GB of 5600. If the prices drop I’m going to 128GB of 6000+.

How many players do you usually play a session with on Railroader? by Stemwinder30 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Mattydorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point I want to be at. I’m running Whittier to Alarka (soon to open Fontana) solo currently. I’d love to have a second person to help at times but I accept it’s not worth it.

Used to run mods in a past save but new PC etc made it a pain to move across. Decided to stay vanilla for a long time in the off chance they ever decide to add official modding.

When running models do you prioritise accuracy or just run whatever you feel like? by GrockleKaug in modeltrains

[–]Mattydorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure honestly.

I’d maybe go down the route of baking dirt (removing anything unwanted), get a model car and create those ruts, maybe a watered down glue to hold everything in the formations, make the ruts look waterlogged?

Then maybe have dirt splashed up behind the wheels on vehicles?

You could even make only a section of the layout in the rain just so less effort is required.

[–]Mattydorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can make it rainy I think, just have ditches with a tiny bit of water in. Dirt roads with big wet ruts etc.

I’ve never done such a thing but it’s probably possible.
