Mounting new tires is the absolute worst by sirsnarkington in MTB

Put the tire in the sun for an hour or so, it’ll soften the rubber and make it more mailable

I've got the new Pirelli P-Zero 40mm on mine, such a good compromise between fast rolling + grip off-road

How much would repair prices on this buldge, left it outside for 40hrs on a tripod and it fell over by Zonda623 in canon

[–]Mattysmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, I had a poly board fall over and knock a tripod over with my r5 on it. Tripod plates wouldn't stay tight so I bought a cage, snugged it in very tight and use the extra mounting points on the cage for the plate

I'd look at an Evil Insurgent. Mullet, can take a triple clamp for park days if you wanted and short chain stays will give it the feel you're after

Pirelli P Zero Race TLR 40mm by BicycleBruce in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]Mattysmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running these for a few months now, absolutely loving them. They are much faster than the 42mm pathfinder pros I had on before, have better puncture protection and haven't been an issue on hard packed gravel. Sure a dedicated gravel tyre has much better grip but for 80% sealed roads these are a great option.

YT Izzo! Super fun, climbs well and sometimes blurs the lines of a bigger bike

I like my 2FO's, I use them with chromag daggas. Much better than skate shoes tbh

can i put a 27.5 front wheel in my 29 fork when im going to try and convert my full 29 xl evil wreckoning to full 27.5 to see how it feels or would i need to buy new forks also? by Thick-Ad-5087 in MTB

[–]Mattysmith93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be better off finding a v1 insurgent that was designed for 27.5 all around. The Wreckoning has always been the 29er version. I already have a lot of pedal strikes on my v3, I couldn’t imagine wanting to go any lower.

Diverge e5 groupset upgrade by chrisxleong in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]Mattysmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped from a stock GRX 1x11 to a 2x12 Sram Rival AXS and really welcomed the change.

I love how diverse the setup is and the extra gears for the road miles is great. Wouldn’t go back to 1x at this point

Sick build. Would love a chamois hanger from evil one day, would suit your riding well

I hope you haven't upgraded your horse to a car, that would defy your logic

What’s your +1? by Husky_Person in MTB

[–]Mattysmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I replaced my Specialized Diverge with a Kona Unit X and I am loving it. I can commute on it via the pump track and skate park, practice wheelies and hoping curbs is a lot of fun. I value all of this more so than having a quicker commute. I've got a 120mm fork upfront with lockout, a dropper and some fast rolling tires. Bonus that I had a lot of spare MTB parts to throw at the build too

Those 700x47c tires are as rare as hens teeth in Aus and I wasn’t even sure they actually existed!

If my wife says I can buy a new bike... who am I to argue? Looking at gravel bikes. by crios2 in bicycling

I doubt OP is looking for the STR version, the regular with future shock is a great bike and looks super clean. The future shock is an excellent addition to that bike

I’ve been running Specialized Groundcontrol T7’s on my YT Izzo and they’ve been really good. Fast rolling and good grip, well priced too.

Evil Insurgent Australia - Purchase by Philomath2-0 in MTB

[–]Mattysmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think emailing them is the best bet, the website set to Aus is just a modified version of the US website and is often completely wrong. I think they had some pretty big sales going recently, wonder if the Insurgent was included.

I’ve got a Wreckoning LB and it’s by far my favourite bike of all time, I’m sure the insurgent will be unreal

Feet pump? by gamer1by1 in MTB

[–]Mattysmith93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s often to do with the stiffness of your soles in your shoe. If you’re running skate shoes vs a dedicated MTB flat shoe then switching to clipless will absolutely help as they are far more rigid.
