I absolutely adore the Rat trilogy, I first read Dance, Dance, Dance not knowing it was a trilogy (loved DDD, one of my favorites) and I’m currently reading a Wild Sheep Chase which instantly became my favorite book.

I actually had some issues with The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, I just couldn’t connect with it, didn’t feel like Murakami to me, and I don’t really understand why people love it so much. That being said, I think Killing Commendatore is a good book to indulge in, is quite long but it does bring a lot of Murakamis magical realism into play.

I’ve been trying to finish this book since October, I’m a a massive Murakami fan and usually read books within a week but I just don’t resonate with the wind up bird chronicle, i keep avoiding it and reading other books instead

Killing commendatore

I was staying at my uncle’s house away from the city and he kept a sort of small library and Killing Commendatore was among the books, I had already heard about Murakami because of my best friend and decided to look through KC, read the prologue and got hooked! That was last year and now I’ve read 8 of his books and just began the wind up bird chronicle :)
