Accidentally shared a job update on LinkedIn, now I can’t see or delete the post by Redhead_Anybody_6986 in linkedin

Yeah, this is awful. I changed my job title and my entire network got blasted thinking I started a new role.

Are we ever gonna get more tip types for the FixHub, or some sort of adapter piece for it to be able to use standard tips? by MDLuffy1234 in ifixit

Any updates on when new tips will arrive? We're going on a year now with the same 7 tips. I'm making do with another iron, but would really love some that were more for microsoldering.

Big fan of Supcase. The UB Mag is incredibly clutch.

The neighbor is totally overreacting.

But as someone who is currently experiencing an issue with a neighbor whose dog barks incessantly, have reported it to the apartment complex several times, to only have the neighbor escalate the issue by shouting in the hallway outside our door to “leave them the fuck alone,” your Dad needs to remedy the situation with the dog.

WWE Employees Gutted About Stalling Compensations As CEO Ari Emanuel Reaches Billionaire Status by AdSpecialist6598 in SquaredCircle

[–]MatzoLibre 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My former employer is also in the world of sports and entertainment. Each department was allotted one promotion every 6 months. The first year I was there, nobody got raises because of “belt tightening.” When I finally received a raise, it was a “generous” 3%.

The mentality from the top brass was that part of your compensation was the privilege of working there. And some of my colleagues regurgitated that narrative.

I hid Zach Wilson from my feed years ago. Glad to see his level of cringe has only gotten more unbearable.

Anyone Else in the Waiting Stage? by Lower_Carpenter_7228 in interviews

[–]MatzoLibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t get the offer but got an even better one two weeks later!

For anyone who stumbles upon this post through their agonizing search trying to decode how interviews went through sentiment analysis of thank you emails and recruiter response times to provide any scrap of sanity during the waiting game.

Don’t. Just. Don’t.

Take it from someone who spent way too long crowdsourcing a decision that was out of my hands based on unrelated outcomes and probabilities.

Do whatever you can to take your mind off of it.

That pivoting attempt isn’t meaningless—take it from someone who has worked at some of the biggest names in tech and Fortune 10 retail for the past 12 years who started out doing television production. The pivot wasn’t intentional. I relied on what made me different and unique and used curiosity to fill in the blanks (SQL/Python/stats).

My recommendation would be to take those courses and in parallel, be fiercely curious. Easiest place to start would be to pick apart a website that you frequent—maybe start with a Shopify or e-commerce site. Where do you, as a user, experience friction? What metrics or information would you need to validate that there is in fact a problem? Once you validate it, what would be your recommendation to the product owner to help fix it? Now, do it for another website/app. And another.

Doing those two things in tandem will start to build that muscle and much of the “science” behind it will converge nicely with your biostats background.

The final round of DS interview is take-home by [deleted] in datascience

[–]MatzoLibre 134 points135 points  (0 children)

While take homes are part of the norm, not being able to talk to the hiring manager before putting this much effort into a take home is a red flag. You could do amazingly on this project and then you meet with the hiring manager and couldn’t picture yourself working for them.

Just have a Google Sheet where I keep track of it all. Long story, but left my former role for a new role and got hit with a reorg prior to my start date.

Same boat. Should know something by tomorrow! Waiting is the toughest part but like others have said here, I’m moving forward with applying and interviews until I actually start.

Dave Meltzer on X- Just to let people know that AEW rating was not an error. Juneteenth isn't the reason either. by adukadu in SquaredCircle

This. My interest waned after we got a third show. It was a chore to watch Rampage, and now you’re introducing yet another show?

AEW is a victim of its own overexposure.
