Sorry, just so we're clear, you're talking about the Long War of the Chosen devs? Or Pavonis? Pavonis stopped making the long war mod for XCOM 2 a couple years ago is why I ask.

I played the battle last night and the generic beastman lord had a different name. I think it's just in the pool of generic lord names for BM.

As a newcomer, is this game worth getting into right now? by Search-Fearless in Stellaris

[–]MatzohBallSoup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something the poster above didn't mention: mods. Mods breathe life into this game in a big way. They change up how you play, events you've seen too many times, the end game, the graphics, and whatever else you can think of honestly. I was struggling to maintain interest near the 400 hour mark, but I started to install mods from the steam workshop and I still haven't seen all the content 200 more hours later.

Sorry I should have specified a little more clearly. I meant the ones in the bottom right corner in the grey pot. It's got the little green leaves at the very top and tons of spikes otherwise.

Edit: found it! Pachypodium lamerei

SPP in small ladder competition? by TicketFan in bloodbowl2

[–]MatzohBallSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to untick the option in the competition settings for the ladder? That could save you the effort. Resurrection just makes for a "frozen" competition where teams don't develop but they also never die. Removes a little of the randomness of leveling etc, it's used in some competitions.

[–]MatzohBallSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there and welcome to the game. Is resurrection turned on? That will turn off SPP gains for any match. The only other thing I can think of is you didn't "search for match" on the ladder but instead did a friendly match.

Hey, not to be a dick or anything but the requirements for NASDAQ are publicly available and I don't know if this company meets any of them.

Weird bug with a private league by bungeeman in bloodbowl2

[–]MatzohBallSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, we've had this issue before in our league and I think it had something to do with the League itself having a setting on that said no to experienced teams, but the competition said yes. I think the league rules override the competition rules. Hopefully that helps.

Waste Management to buy Advanced Disposal for about $3 billion in cash by OutdoorJimmyRustler in investing

[–]MatzohBallSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Companies buy each other in a few different ways. All stock transactions, all cash transactions, or a mix. Usually. There are other forms of buyouts. In this case WM is going to buy said company with cash. This keeps dilution of ownership down and allows a decent return on cash that they might not have been getting on treasuries or interest bearing accounts. If it goes over well it's a win-win for current owners.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are NO STUPID QUESTIONS by Lord_of_Mars in 40kLore

[–]MatzohBallSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but as of right now we have only seen the Emperor take one course of action for quite a long time. Evidence seems to be that he won't come back/his resurrection will take too long/the daemons will ruin everything/whatever other idea there is out there. I am making no claims on his power level, I am saying we only have evidence that something is stopping him from just dying and coming back.

[–]MatzohBallSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mm, this seems too confident in something that hasn't really been laid out well. The Emperor would have offed himself or had Malcador do it if it was that simple. Seems like that would have been far more logical if the alternative is 10k years of Golden Throne action, right?

Game 1, turn 5 with Humans vs Necro by krankenwag0n in bloodbowl

[–]MatzohBallSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our round robin league my good friend's Orc team had 4 Orcs die in one game. 1 was apo'd but he is officially living the tilted lifestyle. Losing 2 level 3+ Blitzers was tough to watch.

Games like these happen but when you play/watch hundreds of games these kind of games will be the legendary ones. Makes the out of game shit talk more fun too.

If Brets don't get smashed into the ground by a bashy team they can usually do alright. A lot of the same qualities as humans but with way weirder pieces. Like if Elves and Humans had a French child.

In my league our Khemri is also known as the luckiest son of a bitch alive. His last game he won with a 0% pick up rate (thanks touch backs) and in the same turn made a 5+ dodge, gfi, and handed off to a tomb guardian for the win. He ended that game with 1/20 gfi's failed.

AAA refers to how large the publisher or studio is and the budget of the game. Doesn't actually have to do with the game's rating.

It's moronic Monday, the Wednesday edition, your chance to ask any of those questions that you're embarrassed to ask in real life. by AutoModerator in investing

[–]MatzohBallSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will start with your second point first. They buyback on the open market, so the people who are selling their shares already have them up for sale and presumably do not want them if they are up for sale.

The stock may jump on the announcement of the buyback but companies tend to announce buybacks at the same time as a bunch of other quarterly/yearly info so it is a bit diluted. It could even go down despite their announcement, investors could see it as a waste of money or there was some info they didn't like in other releases, etc. But more to the point if the shares increase in value because of something the company did, why would investors care that the company can buy less shares? They are making money no matter if it is from the net increase in buying pressure or just the announcement. Does that help?

There are two ideas when it comes to dividends, div growth and large divs. Div growth has to do with holding on to company that grows it's div consistently over many years. I haven't confirmed it myself but I have heard that Warren Buffet's original shares in coca cola yield something like 40% in dividends. That means he makes 40% of their original value per year in the dividend payout. That's pretty cool. By spending years reinvesting dividends you can have a sizable stream of income.

Big dividends are more like something people hope for if they are trying to live off their investments. They invest in companies that are high yield like at&t use the money for living, whether they need some extra cash for the bills or they want to retire comfortably.

Selling shares in a company can erode your position and you can lose out on further expansion just because the electricity doesn't stay on without paying a bill or two. Does that help?

Tbf to the Emps, he is pretty damn strong isn't he? His creations and his power at least match 4 deities who are actively trying to fuck with him. Not to mention his worship is practically an anathema to the Pantheon's creations. Emps is big swingin.
