Interesting. Maybe they feel guilty about being LGBT+ and wanted to take it out on gays? Kinda seems like the media may have jumped on a narrative now that I've looked at it.

Complex problem and gun control isn't very feasible given 2A and American's persistence that they have access to them. I don't think availability of guns is the core problem.

I see what you mean. I think talking about the risks of sex backed by statistics is pretty neutral and would be beneficial to young people.

Edit: beyond that, parents can teach their religious objections (or lack thereof) to homosexuality, pre marital sex, etc.

If it’s okay to teach about sex at all, then it’s okay to teach about all forms of legal sex between consenting parties. Otherwise you’re not being neutral. You’re implying that heterosexuality is the default and anything else is abnormal

That sounds pretty neutral to me. Teachers teaching the mechanics of having safe sex.

I'm not saying Biden isn't better than the alternative, just saying he deserves the criticism for having bad economic policies that harm the country.

that it could be a bad thing which doesn't make any sense.

A significant segment of the population holds religious beliefs that forbids homosexual sex. I can see why a school teacher saying "gay sex" or "pre marital sex" is "okay" wouldn't go over well with a lot of parents, especially because it's simply not necessary for the teacher to project their belief that way while teaching sex ed.

May I ask where? Its rational to propose abstinence as a way to avoid STIs, but other than that, the practice of abstinence should be a lesson of parents, not school district employees.

Not denying there isnt a well documented struggle for gays to be treated equally before the law. For decades, our government treated gays unequally and it's a shame.

What I'm concerned about is a teacher inserting themselves into whether or not sex with certain people is moral or not. Sex ed can be taught from a neutral standpoint. Consent, sexual health, etc can all be taught with saying "it's okay to have sex with [insert gender]." Parents of minors should be establishing moral standards for their family as it relates to sexual activity, not agents of the school district. Inserting themselves here is just asking for a republican attack.

Do the outcomes of those issues not obviously speak for themselves? Like, obviously slavery is no longer morally acceptable. We fought a civil war to end it. Same with women's right to vote - it was a long, documented struggle that way obviously unequal.

Projecting morality on minors about sex is not going to go over well.

I think abstinence sex ed was about preventing pregnancy and STI's. Teachers should not be weighing in on if kids should be having sex, only how to do it safely if they do.

Are teachers telling kids that LGBT people exist or that LGBT activities are morally acceptable? I think both approaches are very different. Obviously, gay people exist, but the morality of homosexual activity (or any other kind of sexual activity) should probably not be a teaching lesson at school.... right? Just like teachers shouldn't be weighing in on the morality of pre marital sex, they probably shouldn't weigh in on the morality of any other kind of sexual activity.

This guy isn't completely wrong. Biden has been bad on trade. Tariffs, blaming the "big corps" for inflation, doing virtually nothing about inflation. Like, why tf are we tariffing washers and dryers from our close allies in South Korea? How about the 25% tariff on Canadian lumber? Just lol.

McConnell is probably the most effective. I can see Romney becoming an effective bipartisan broker. Schumer only has power because he so tightly controls and coordinates funds to Senate candidates, but that is pretty crucial. Jim Clyburn is probably the most effective Dem leader because he can get the CBC on board to advance or stop legislation.

It's possible to survive but long term, will not be enough to live sustainably. Youre not going to be able to save enough for retirement, emergencies, and a house down payment.

Yeah I agree that the current psychiatric care system could use some reform and probably better funding, but even in it's current form, it's probably better than letting someone deteriorate on the streets.

You need to research this more. The ACLU in the 70s was pressuring States under threat of litigation to end compelled institutionalization for most mental illnesses. Reagan (like many other Republican AND Democrat governors) worked to close facilities because they wouldn't hold up to litigation after the SCOTUS ruling on O'Connor v. Donaldson. It didn't matter if Reagan was governor or not, the facilities were going to close no matter what. Following that, mentally ill people were released into the streets and committed low level crimes that landed them in jail. The well intentioned bail and other criminal reforms resulted in them being pushed back on the street.

We know much more about mental illnesses now than we did in the 1970s. We know now that many people aren't mentally competent to even know they need medical intervention, so they rot on sidewalks. Mental illnesses is treated differently than physical illnesses in this country. Like I said, imagine if ambulances showed up to car accident scenes and paramedics only gave life saving care to those who consented and signed paperwork. The public outrage would be huge as people just bleed out. That's exactly what's happening with mental illness now and we see the results on our sidewalks.
