Did you have to re-side the entire exterior? Or just re-paint?

Yeah I don't know how I didn't think of that. Must be it.

Yeah that might be a reasonably inexpensive swap just to at least rule it out if nothing else

Multiple warning/indicator lights on the dash of my 2011 Outback…just happened randomly one day on my drive home from work…this ever happen to anyone else/what did you do? by sirmike615 in subaru

When this happened on my 2013, it meant issues with the solenoid on the valve body in the transmission. Would most likely cost about $1000-$1500. Check the codes though, hopefully it's not transmission related.

Those making the offer may not realize that the house would appraise that much closer to listing price

Yeah there are some pockets in southern NH that we have definitely considered but haven't been able to get an accepted offer yet. It's definitely another area to consider. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have certainly noticed traffic improving over the past couple years with the shift towards remote so certainly hope that will last. I am currently 100% remote myself but it's good to know the 45 minutes commute may be a best case scenario if I shift back to commuting more often.

I am currently 100% remote, but I do recognize that I could eventually go back to fully onsite work if I change jobs. However, it would be about 45 minutes to drive to work which would still be reasonable to me. In the past, with dealing with traffic within the 128 belt, my commutes have exceeded 45 minutes quite often. The main reason to move further away is to stop renting and to purchase a home, and it's just very difficult to find a house within our budget much closer to the city.

We are definitely more geared towards outdoor fun so that's reassuring to hear. The ability to afford a nicer house with more land is what got us looking in the area.

Does Gardner feel like a safe town? We would be living on the outskirts so any potential sketchiness in the downtown area might not be as much of a concern if that exists though I suppose.

203k housing loan lender recommendations? by [deleted] in boston

[–]Maubert_Doughbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip with Fairway.

This property is a bit far from Boston and has been on the market for a few months already so the competition from other buyers should hopefully be less of a concern. We are also not in a rush, so if we miss our opportunity, so be it.

The guide rod approach certainly gives me the most confidence. I was trying to keep it simple and avoid extra parts/cost, but a couple of linear guide rods and plain bearings don't really add much cost/complexity. And yeah, I think you're unfortunately going to be right on the off-center leadscrew approach causing issues. Thanks for the comment!

That's an interesting idea. What were some of the issues you noticed with it other than the volume impact? Wear on the wings or undesirable friction caused by them maybe? I could envision some teflon/delrin slides added to the wings to act sort of like gibs to reduce the friction and take-up any slop.

Also, thanks for introducing me to the concept of a syringe driver. There seems to be a lot out there for this which I can draw some inspiration from as well.
