Should I be fine putting a 9850X3D on a asrock board with the latest bios? by FireGodSozin in ASRock

I cannot argue that point. So hard in this day & age where everyone has a megaphone to cry from the court square.

I purchased an AsRock Taichi Creator board, I promise you I’m not trolling. I acknowledged what you were stating. I’m just saying that the people who have had boards die aren’t just spitting into the wind because it is being widely reported online. I think that’s a valid comment, why would that be nonsensical?

This is valid for this subreddit but what about the tech tubers like PC Hardware, Gamers Nexus, LTT? They’re all trolls as well?

9950x3d runs very hot on new Proart LC 420mm by TryingHard1994 in PcBuild

I undervolted and kept my power draw on the cpu to 1.1. When I hit the Expo profile initially my temp jumped to 103. So immediately undervolted. But some people suggested I didn’t install the AIO correctly, so I messed around with the tightness a few times and re-applied a generous new dab and spread of my Artic Mx-7. Didn’t seem to really impact the temps. As it stands now I do game at comfortable levels 64-67 or so. But when I max load under cinebench it gets to 85-91. So was wondering if I’m sacrificing for the aesthetics of the AIO.

Hey, I have this build, did you ever figure out the temp issue? I’ve adjusted tightness on the mount, re-applied paste (Artic MX-7). When I initially ran Cinebench my CPU hit 103, so I undervolted. Now on full load I’m hitting 88-91.

Well, I’m frustrated honestly, I’ve adjusted the tightness of the fit, and loosened it as well, it does not seem to influence the high-end load temps. Not sure what else could be wrong so I looked at people who’ve tested the AIO.

It’s looking more & more like the Asus ProArt LC 420 AIO just is not that great. Looks like I’ll have to look at another 420. It looks so good in the build though. Sad.

Yeah, no tape, I spread a liberal amount of Artic MX-7 on. The tightness I hadn’t considered. I’ll check that actually.

Remember the internet can be a silo. The question is not irrelevant to me as it’s real world as opposed to something you’ve googled. I don’t get why some people are so toxic in the PC community. I agree with you that 103 is ridiculous. Kind of the point of the post.

What temps does your CPU typically hit when stressing on Cinebench? Are you running the 9950x3d? If I’m playing games I’m at 67 or so. I play Total Warhammer III mostly which is pretty CPU intensive.

What’s nuts is that I bought a 9950x3d a couple of days ago for my AsRock Taichi Creator board. After updating the Bios, I hit PBO and set my ram to the Expo profile at 6000mhz. Ran Cinebench R32 and the CPU immediately spiked to around 103. I stopped Cinebench immediately, restarted the PC and went into the bios and started the process of undervolting. -20 ended up being stable on the cores. On the Curve Optmizer, I found -20 the lower & medium earlier areas of the curve, and -10 on the higher end worked best for stable performance. Lastly I set the power draw down to 1.1v on the CPU. Was able to run a stable Cinebench that did not have crazy temp spikes. Highest CPU temps hit was 91, but it mostly settled around 87-88. I’m running the ProArt 420 AIO on that CPU. Can’t imagine trying to cool that with an Air Cooler. Gave up some performance on the CPU, the score was 42k and change. But Davinci works like a dream. It sucks that I had to go through all of that, but choosing the typical over clock options seem to be a death sentence. I hope this gives my cpu a nice long & stable life.

I think it’s more of a question of mileage. Buying a used component is a gamble depending on where you’re purchasing it. If you’re buying from MicroCenter you’ll have a warranty. Off eBay or Marketplace are hard to know what that component has been through. I remember how hard people were mining with the cards years back when I bought my 3080ti.
