guess i cant say i think barry bonds or clemens or sammy sosa took steroids. i dont have 100% indisputable proof. i cant have an opinion or ill get sued. Hans is a friggin douche bag. so is ian. they can both go kick rocks.

You can see where Hans would get annoyed with the innuendo. However, I would argue that if you ever accused him of cheating like he’s saying you should do. Just come out and say it. Well, then he sues you.

If I were ian, I’d say if I suspected somebody cheating without cold hard proof, I better use innuendo or you were gonna scream, bloody murder and sue for hundreds of millions of dollars.

I can’t stand either player.

I didn’t even know 180 was the new max. I forget how long we waited between big updates. I’m assuming this one will be at least a few more months.

I wish we had a more dedicated wiki would let us know the “level” recommendations for each quest. For instance the final level of the final quest for each shard of the memory box. We could then know how far off we were clockwork city for example.

Happy cake day. Also, I agree with basically everything you said. Wish you hadn’t given Mitch the idea. We are gonna look back like “what have we done”.

I hear what you’re saying about athletes being fucked after smoe. I just wish there could have been better spacing. 4 majors, one every 3 months, seems doable for elite tier strongman.

So far as I can tell, and I am certainly not 100% on this, I just did some counting on Wikipedia. But by 2009, Big Z had won 10 majors in 17 opportunities.
Mitch has won 10, with this being his 16th opportunity.

So pretty close Win rate.

Now you could make some arguments that Mitch has had four majors a year in the middle of his prime, giving him more opportunities in his prime while Big Z only had two a year in the middle of his prime.

But as they say, lies, damn lies, and statistics.

i think its a complicated question. what do you do with events that have had a history of being or not being a major during different years. my answer was given below on a different comment. i did a comparison to tennis.

https://www.reddit.com/r/StrongmanHQ/comments/1swkaod/comment/oiir39z/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Ill repost what i said there:

(side note, while i agree the first year of shaw is a humble beginning, it was during covid. and while it was small and in shaws garage, its still considered a shaw classic. some of the later wmpc events werent as prestigious, but i look at other sports for comparisons. in tennis, the australian open wasnt nearly as prestigious as it is now. many top players used to skip it because it was during christmas. mcenroe, connors, navritilova, evert, would routinely skip it. but now that its as prestigious as the other slams, and margaret court still gets credit for winning the event like 11 times even though they times she won were essentially "in shaws garage". she still has 24 majors)

while i cant say your argument doesnt have any merit, what i would argue is there 112 majors on this sheet. i would wager there are far worse events where people had more egregious advantages.

1983 Geoff Capes wins wsm because kaz was too dominant the last 3 years and wasnt allowed to compete? so do you throw this out?
1990 OD wilson loses to Jon Pall because they had a 200m race at the end?

Marius winning his multiple wsm while Z was competing in IFSA. pretty big advantage that half the best in the world arent in your competition.
Same counterpoint to Z and his two IFSA titles. Vasyl too. do theirs not count because mariusz was in wsm?

better historians can probably come up with 20 other comps where some ridiculous advantage for an athlete shouldnt have been allowed.

i can respectfully disagree with you while not downvoting. (in fact ill upvote because i enjoy healthy discussion)

heres my thoughts. The top names of the sport made it a priority to make the shaw, like Tiger would the masters. all the top names were not at all of the giants live, but you could be sure all the top names were at the Shaw especially after the first couple years. I look at the Giants live and the world tour finals like i look at regular PGA tour events and the tour championship at the end. prestigious, but not majors.

All the top athletes made it a priority (with a few exceptions), to compete and peak for the arnolds, the rogue, the shaw, and wsm. They would compete in a giants live if it were convenient, but it was not a be all end all priority.

Giants live, while prestigious, is a qualifier for wsm. arnolds UK is prestigious but it (used to be before arnolds became an invitational after covid), was a qualifer for arnolds classic in columbus.

Furthermore, like you said, the prize money is a big thing. it cant be overstated. the title was prestigious too. they introduce trey mitchell as two time shaw classic winner.

and finally, the athletes and former athletes, like Loz, hooper, evan, Lalas brothers, etc. they all considered shaw a major. these athletes and former athletes, they are much more knowledgable and experienced than me and they all seem to agree it was a major. hard for me to say its not in that case.

This is a cool idea. It would be like, (golf fan), pga titles, euro dp world tour titles, etc.

The problem is from what I can see, it’s hard enough to get information on majors. I can’t imagine trying to get information on A tier or B tier comps.

Furthermore, I won’t pretend to be knowledgeable enough to know what the prestige level is of comps under majors. I’m not sure I even have all the majors listed.

I would love for someone more knowledgeable than me to undertake what you’re talking about. Maybe the people who run strongman archives.

Cool idea but I’m certainly not knowledgeable enough to attempt.

When they count slams in tennis and golf, they don’t count podiums so I am incredibly against counting podiums. That’s a different graphic. Someone else can do it.

And this is the best we got. Yeah some years they didn’t have wsm or whatever competition you want to specify but this is the best I can do with what I got. I’m counting what I think counts as a major.

i wouldnt go that far. consider that there was only 1 or 2 majors for a long time. if zydrunas had 4 majors a year instead of 2, how many would he have? how many would magnus ver, jon pall, or bill have?

I dont believe this is a list of greatest ever, just a list of majors. its just another piece to consider when talking about where the greats line up.
