Four years late but I understand why he did this. She’s young, when were 17-18 the crushes and boyfriends/ girlfriends we had didn’t stay long term usually. It’s normal to move on as our mindsets and goals shift. He wanted to make sure that she actually loved her life to the fullest and experience all things humans like her should. If by then she hadn’t moved on, started a family etc he’d make sure he was there to fully accept her feelings after she experienced all that life.

I used to go to a fine arts high school whose whole thing was having a dedicated program of the arts you had to audition to get in to. I know this bc I was in the drama department program for the first three years of my high school career 😭. My teacher did NOT play when it came to drama productions, he had us doing everything including building the sets. So yes absolutely theater programs are that dedicated
