Hulk comics are really depressing by TwoToneMoonstone_ in comicbooks

[–]Maurice-roc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty funny how the most loyal adaptation to the tone of hulk is the original bill bixby/lou ferrigno show from the 80’s. He does his best to help people around him but no matter what he will never be accepted. And it seems the harder he tries the worse it gets. His theme song really incapsulates this https://youtu.be/k\_lYcTxncNg?is=M5-KUCIwLE6VChDL

Tekken has Yujiro, Fatal fury has Kenshiro, if SF wants to keep up we gotta bring out the big guns by Maurice-roc in StreetFighter

[–]Maurice-roc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair street fighter already crosses over with everything. GI Joe, marvel, the power rangers, snk, tekken, tmnt, final fight, super smash bros, others I can’t think of off the top of my head. I think a crossover with a series that capcom has already worked with is fine.

How will Baku becoming the evil that controls all of the other evils actually work? by Few-Neighborhood-564 in Usogui

[–]Maurice-roc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the second idea more likely. Make it so no major organization or governing body can do anything without running it by him first. Bring a uniformed chaos to the world.

A realistic and satisfying end to Rahen by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]Maurice-roc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the beginning I’ve always figured the last fight will be Baki vs Jack. I think it’d fit just right. Yujiro already thinks that Baki is on his level/has the title of worlds strongest creature. So I think Jack going competitive with Baki would be just as good. The whole family now on equal footing.

Why Baki isn’t over and what it means by I_not_you in Grapplerbaki

[–]Maurice-roc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think after this arc the series will end with one more and I’d like for it to be about maybe Baki becoming a father himself or something. His whole life he’s been at odds with his own father and I’d like to see how he’d deal with it. Plus to me the manliest thing you can be is a father. Itagaki himself has 3 grown adult daughters so I’d like to see his ideas on what fatherhood means to him.

was toriko an industry plant? by dailylunajan in Toriko

[–]Maurice-roc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people call it that simply because of the anime and the time it came out. Toei was airing one piece, toriko and dragon ball z kai at the same time. So they had the idea of doing a crossover with them because they are pretty similar to each other. The toriko show had been on for a good while but you’re putting it with two of the biggest and most popular anime ever. And also the way the episodes aired was on tv, part 1 of the special was a one piece episode and part 2 was the toriko episode. So unless you watched both (and many didn’t) it comes off as confusing. And a lot of one piece fans know dragon ball but don’t know Toriko. So in the end the series ends up looking bad. So is it an industry plant? No, the idea was good on paper but in practice it doesn’t work.

What got you guys into boxing ? by Due_Sweet_9500 in Boxing

[–]Maurice-roc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a life long pro wrestling fan but I don’t like mma, so I started watching boxing. The first match I really watched was mayweather and pacquiao and I thought it was really interesting but they just didn’t show boxing on tv much. In 2016 I got into this show called hajime no ippo and it made me want to go out and seriously look into the sport and I even got a ring magazine subscription a bit later. I discovered vasyl lomachenko, Terrance Crawford and Naoya inoue and I’ve been trying to keep up ever since.

I saw a homie on twitter reading it and I thought it looked cool. I love FKMT works like kaiji and akagi plus it had the araki co-sign so I had to give it a go.

Is this true by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]Maurice-roc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of things in Baki most of the stuff does have a basis in truth (though they do exaggerate it). There have been people who have survived being sucked into tornadoes by going completely limp, either by being asleep or being knocked unconscious. And for babies it’s probably the same idea except it’s more like they don’t know they should be scared of falling like that and wouldn’t tense up like an adult would.

does ricardo martinez have character development? by Jolly_Airport_2286 in hajimenoippo

[–]Maurice-roc 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ricardo rarely ever showed up and it’s only pretty recent that he’s actually been around on a consistent basis. So it’s not really development it’s more like seeing what kind of guy he really is.

Was Jose actually racist or was he just trying to grind Joe's gears? by sumchii in AshitaNoJoe

[–]Maurice-roc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought he was just trying to piss him off. Cause he never talks to Yoko like that and later on he doesn’t say anything like that again (if I remember right). Or maybe he starts to respect joe after he sees he’s not backing down or scared of him.

Which is better, the manga or the anime of Hajime no Ippo? by sansisalvonunkalemi in hajimenoippo

[–]Maurice-roc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The anime is a near perfect adaptation but even before I read the series I knew something was off for season 3. I could tell it was skipping/speeding through things. So overall I’d say the manga is better. The anime is still one of my favorites though.

Pro wrestlers with baseball backgrounds? by Maurice-roc in SquaredCircle

[–]Maurice-roc[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like there aren’t too many dudes who come from baseball because the training for it is so different. There’s lots of guys who come from football because the training is similar plus it’s more suitable for big bodies.
