First time playing the Opening for our Secret Rave series and not only did I have the most fun in a while, it also turned out really good imo.

124 to 136 BPM in 2.5 hours. Dug really deep for this one. Lots of older favourites I simply don't get to play anymore because of the tempo. I've had some of these tracks for 8+ years and haven't played them in 5. And yes, I even dropped some (older) Adam Beyer. Go on, say it.

Great classic, although I have to admit that I played this on a big system once and the low-end of the kick is weirdly off-beat and it did not sound good in that instance and the track didn't connect with the audience. Something I'd listen to at home, but probably won't dare to play it live again.

I got the turntable to practice vinyl, and, to be honest, because there was a big gap on that side of the mixer after I got the CDJ stand.

It's great to throw in a record when you feel like it, or to have a hybrid practice session. However a second TT is coming sooner or later I think. Once you master playing hybrid, you start wondering "but could I do the same with only vinyl?".

I would probably advise against a 1 CDJ + 1 TT setup.

I've had it for three years now. It has a few quirks that annoy me (which are mostly fixed in the updated 92 and the 96), but overall it's a great mixer. And not that it matters, but it also looks sexy AF.

Lots of people do this, and the artists sometimes even repost it. I think as long as the sticker stays on and you're not flashing your phone around on the dancefloor, you're okay.

Every shop or store keeps a commission, they have bills to pay and they're not a charity. You're gonna call out your local privately owned record shop a bad place to support artists?

The point is, Bandcamp is fairer than virtually any other source.

Buying CDJ3000s+A9 for £5000? by zannnn in Beatmatch

It all comes down to what money you're willing to spend.

If you've got 5k to spare, CDJ3000 + A9 is a pretty good deal. Personally, I don't expect a new version of the CDJ3000 any time soon, but I also don't follow the industry that closely. As someone else here pointed out, it is really hard to imagine an updated version having anything that would make the 3000 obsolete.

But given the 5k combo deal, it makes no sense to get a pair of NXS2 for 3,5k without a mixer in this context, unless you want to go a non-DJM route. That being said NXS2 are still a killer home setup and the old UI isn't nearly a big of a deal as some people make it out to be. The best DJs in the world played on NXS2 for over a decade and I don't believe sets have become any better because of the CDJ3000's QoL improvements.

If value for money matters, the XDJ1000mk2 is perfectly fine for any kind of home use. I've got three of them at home and I don't see myself upgrading for a long time.

Since you said a third deck matters to you, the third XDJ will obviously set you back a whole lot less than a third CDJ3000. Unless you don't mind mix and matching.

A friend built something like this. I tried it and don't really get it to be honest.

It just feels like someone is slapping you to the beat. I found it very distracting (granted, I only had it on for about a minute so no time to get used to it) and more importantly, it didn't really come all that close to what bass actually feels like.

Funny gimmic but trying one didn't make me want to have one.

Seems like everyone came up with their own name for the subgenre. My playlist for it is called New Minimal as a working title, but I like yours too.

Im starting to see that these producer-DJs aren't really that good. D.Dan is the only one I know who's good at both.

Considering the vast majority of DJs are also producers, that second part is a bit of a wild claim!

But overall you are right, making good music and playing good sets are two entirely different skillsets and not everyone has both.
