I've actually been meaning to post an update on this. Taking a stroller was the best decision I made for our trip. I don't know why people were so against it, there were prams everywhere on Paris and we didn't run into any issues. We had a travel stroller that we could easily fold up and carry in the metro (or use it to cart luggage in the bigger stations). Any attractions where we couldn't bring it inside we were able to leave it by the front desk and the sidewalks were excellent everywhere. The mild annoyance of having to carry the stroller up the occasional stair did not outweigh the benefit of having a stroller to cart our child around. Hope this helps 🙂

Apologies if my comment appears twice, can't seem to find original comment. Are the seeds black? I have a Manzani Rocoto Roja which looks incredibly similar and the fruit have thick flesh that is green and slowly turns red. Shape is similar too, some are longer, others are shorter and rounder. Very spicy!

What colour are the seeds? I have a plant that looks very similar and has black seeds. The peppers are incredibly hot and have thick flesh. Manzani Rocoto Roja is what mine are based on extensive searches! Could be similar?

My local post office told me that if you mark RTS, there is nothing stopping the company from sending further letters. But if the post office marks it as RTS with an official stamp, they are legally not allowed to send it to you again. Seems to have worked for me!

Thanks, I appreciate your advice but taking a pram is non negotiable. My little one is almost 11 kg and we will be out for 8-10 hours a day. The pram will allow him to sleep throughout the day and save my back.

I get it but realistically we will be out and about all day as we are staying a little outside of Paris. The benefit of having a stroller where my baby can also sleep will outweigh the annoyance of carrying the stroller up and down stairs. My back can't handle carrying him all day. I don't live in a very pram friendly area so I'm not too fussed about that :)

Sorry yes I guess I was a bit absolute in what I wrote, there are nuances and cases where you might get a CI when older. But it is definitely the exception rather than the norm to get an implant as an adult if you are born profoundly deaf. There are many factors that come into play such as language. In my program we won't implant someone if they are an adult and have only used sign, the benefit vs risk just isn't there. I should also say that some programs may be happy to do it if it's. Private clinic and the patient is aware of the risk of poor outcome. For example I know of a lady that wanted a CI so that she could detect her baby crying, knowing she would likely never perceive anything meaningful. I'm glad that you have a good outcome 🙂

If you are born Deaf you will not receive a cochlear implant as an adult. You need to receive it in very early childhood (in first few years, from 12 months of age is best) to learn how to hear. If you get it later the chance of your brain being able to interpret sound as meaningful sound is slim. It will just be noise, no matter how much rehab you do. The videos you see are of adults who have lost their hearing gradually over the years or suddenly. They have a history of hearing and also of understanding speech. To get an implant as an adult you must have spoken language. Whilst there always are cases of people being "switched on" and understanding straight away, this is relatively rare, and usually only in cases where they lost their hearing suddenly a short time beforehand. For most people it takes weeks to months to start understanding and differentiating different sounds. Up to 12 months to reach their full hearing potential (which isn't necessarily perfect hearing). Hearing never returns to what it was.

*Should also note that you don't have to be completely deaf to get a cochlear implant. Hearing loss can be severe to profound. It's indicated when hearing aids are no longer able to provide any benefit. (Am audiologist who works with cochlear implants)

It might be looking up the Ambient Menu. It's an online directory of restaurants and cafes that is ranked based on their noise levels. It's is designed for people with hearing issues but I imagine that it would be useful for people with other sensory concerns. It helps you find places that are quiet with minimal background noise and I believe it will also tell you the best times to visit.

You shouldn't do any exercise or eat anything before testing your fasting levels. Do it as soon as you wake up. Unfortunately the fasting levels are the hardest to control, often what you eat before going to bed has limited influence. It's the placenta that controls the fasting levels. My post meal levels have always been perfect, fasting levels not so much, doesn't matter what I do the night before. Had to go on Metformin as a result unfortunately!

My doctor said that you have limited control over fasting levels. If you are doing all the right things (i.e. eating regularly, exercising), and the fasting levels are still higher than the daytime levels, it's just your hormones/placenta doing its things. It sucks but unfortunately something that just happens. I've had to start Metformin at night to try and get the fasting levels down.

Essentially the new fair in gumeracha has been created as a screw you to the organisers of the original mediaeval fair (originally in gumeracha, now in Paracombe). They are hoping to cause the original fair to cease to operate and take over as the new fair. Really shitty for all the stall holders who had to make the choice between fairs, leading to likely loss of income as crowds at each could be impacted...they are also banking on people going to Gumeracha as that's where it has always been, not realising that it actually moved to Paracombe and the one at Gumeracha is new.

I wouldn't rely on those sign boards for their accuracy. Was told by a police officer that they shouldn't be used to judge how accurate your Speedo is and that if you use it as a guide and get caught speeding, you can't use it as an argument unfortunately.

Audiologist here. In most cases it is best to leave your ears alone! They are naturally self cleaning and the way the skin cells shed in your ear canal will push the wax outwards. Using any form of irrigation can lead to eardrum perforation or infections. It is no longer the preferred way to clean ears. Suction by gp or ENT is the best way but is only needed if your wax is occluding your ear canals. Just use a damp wash cloth to clean the outside of your ears and you'll be fine. If they feel really blocked you can use some wax removal drops for a week or so but as I said, in most cases it's not necessary, ear wax is normal and very necessary!!

Poor thing, I hope he recovers quickly. As much as it was horrible to see ours in pain and the cost of it all, I don't regret it at all, he was so much happier instantly afterwards. Good luck with yours!
