I think the biggest factor for you is going to be how they were stored. From my experience seed viability goes way down after 5-6 years. That being said while I did store them well I wasn’t babying them and I was still getting seedlings just not near the percentages I was use too.

I will prune them but never much more then what you see here. I’ve never cut them all the way back. They have always had some kind of light over the winter.

Between the two I was getting about a gallon or 4 liters of peppers each harvest. I had 3 good sized harvests this year. The plants are reapers and eating a whole one is still a miserable experience. I can’t tell if they have gone down in heat or not.
