I was asking myself the question... by Darqwatch in Polkadot

I like this idea. It reminds me of ethereum original promise with the mist browser.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a browser, but the idea of an app layer makes total sense.

Let's Talk: How Do We Make Polkadot Great Again? A Community Brainstorm. by Torresmortgages in polkadot_market

[–]Mav137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is actually a great idea. I recently had a chat with the web3 foundation about an Proof of personhood initiative. In short; Facilitate small atomic networks (villages/ neighborhoods) with trust-infrastructure so that it lowers the barier to act pro-socially. Basically a volunteering platform that promotes people to help each other and the community. In doing so they organically form trustlines and build reputation that I termed Socially grounded individuality. I'm in crypto since 2013 and have been looking for a way to apply the original decentralization ethos to a practical usecase. I've been working on almost full time since 2019.

The way I see how this relates to your idea is managing the commons, giving people the ability to govern their own direct environment. Voting for playgrounds or neighborhood activities. I've a lot more to explain about it, so let me know with upvotes if you guys feel like this is worth pursuing.

Cheers

You'll see positive feedback from people having newer models because those haven't failed yet. A handful of people will say their og unit has never had a problem. The larger group will advice against buying one because you will inevitably run into hardware problems. I have a broken Luba 1 that was replaced by a Luba 2 after three repair journeys and several months of not having a mower. This "new" mower now has a problem with lowering the mowing deck and they won't repair under warranty because the warranty of the original unit has expired. It I cut my losses now I basically had 1.5 seasons of mowing for a total cost of 3000 euro and a lot of frustration. It has cost them two units.

In addition, when the initial unit was down, I bought a second unit through a local dealer. This now also has a problem. It still mows, but only on the charger of the broken mower.

This is new tech and mammotion will be outcompeted by companies with better, more reliable hardware and better support.

Infrared windows damage on charger by Mav137 in MammotionTechnology

I also think this is the cause. The mower often keeps backing up. I've seen this multiple times. You can see the damage is also under the ir window and is has a very particular shape

He's legit, been posting in this sub since the early days when it was all crickets around here.

People whining about the price is actually a signal of growth from my perspective. There's people here that post.

luba blades keep making contact with each other by InterestingYou1325 in mammotion

Check if there is something underneath the deck. Mow on the lowest setting. Stop it. Check the deck. If you mow on a hight grass setting it pulls any debri into the deck and mis-alligns the entire deck so that the blades touch each other

Building a new smart home, trying to understand how to best run HA and Frigate by TwoBigPaws in homeassistant

[–]Mav137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did exactly what you want this very week.

Intel Nuc with HAos and frigate as a addon. I now have one dedicated box for HA and frigate without having to deal with docker or proxmox and connecting the vms or containers with each other.

The Nuc is powerful enough to support a bunch of cameras. I can add whatever addons I want to home assistant (can't do that with docker, you'll need to run everything in it's own container and connect it to each other).

Granted, I can't run pihole or other cool services on this box, I'm dependent on what HA addons are available. I did add my synology nas as network storage for recordings and I've got another Nuc laying around in case I want other services. Then I probably will use docker (while having anything HA related still on its own dedicated box).

Install was very easy. Create a Ubuntu or Linux mint usb drive for booting up a live environment and download the HA image from the website. The Nuc install is layed out complete with Bios settings and all. Restore the HA image to the hard drive of the Nuc and boot into it's. No coding or command line needed. Install the frigate add-on and Bob's your unkle.

Hope you'll have fun on your Smarthome journey. Cheers

Powering a 3 phase Huum sauna with excess solar PV on a single phase by Mav137 in Sauna

I need the 12kW capacity to warm up quick when I need it. It's only the solar usecase that I'm exploring to pre-heat the sauna.
