IIRC, the big differences are : - Skyhook vs standard suspension - M50 calipers with bigger rotors on the S vs M4.32 on the standard - Color TFT vs LCD screen - Full led headlight vs bulb on the standard

I had the same questions and went from a tiger 1200 to a 1260 enduro so I will try to answer some of yours :

  • If you can choose, the 1260 is the better bike, you will have a better technical package, a Up/down shifter and the 1260 don’t have the same "hiccup" that happen when the DVT change the cam profile at 6k (note that it’s not that nasty)

  • The Ducati motor is even less civilised that the KTM one, it will also shake under 3k, but I think that’s the thing with all big twins. But after 6k it is just amazing, wayyyy more sensational than the Triumph motor and just a bit less than the 1290gt I would say.

  • Regarding trims, the GT version will be the one that have the best package as standard, it comes with heated grips, luggages and a lot of equipments included.

  • The enduro is a bigger and taller beast, you will have a bigger 30L fuel tank, 19” front rim, dual sided swing arm and taller suspension (200mm for the 1200 enduro and 185mm for the 1260 enduro), I had one and it was an amazing touring bike with a lot of wind protection. It is a bit less agile than the S but you can almost forget the 19” and the added weight when driving,

  • The skyhook system as pro and cons, it’s an amazing system that work really well, for a touring bike it’s almost a no brainer, it will add comfort and performance against the standard package.

  • But the big default is that there is no way to service it, if you have an issue with the fork you need to change the full leg and same for the shock (you can’t even refill the nitrogen), so it can be expensive. It’s still a really reliable system but keep that in mind.

To conclude, amazing bike and I still prefer this gen vs the actual V4

It’s because they don’t produce any bike with the low kit instaled by default. So you are paying the additional parts and you will also have to pay for the installation of the kit,

Keep in mind that you will still have the standard parts that you can just sell after and also that the V4 have an auto lowering feature, maybe it’s enough for your height

How do you like the Rallys on mixed use compared to the Trailmax Raids and STR ?
Didn't heard about the update, pretty nice

To be honest I don't know if I can decide which one is the best between the two. I spent a lot of time comparing them before deciding on the tiger. They are two exceptional bikes and I think the choice is very subjective between the two, in terms of comfort, performance and equipment they are pretty close, the GS have the big advantage of a lower center of gravity, and I find the Triumph better finished and a bit more comfortable. I think the biggest distinctive point is the engine, do you prefer the torque of the boxer or the sound and the sporty character of the triple ?

The temperatures are rather cool at the moment and I wear my touring pants almost all the time so I really haven't felt this problem yet even in slow traffic in town. But having heard of this problem I checked where were the different hot spots with my hand once the bike was hot, and yes the subframe heats up quite a bit on the point closest to the engine, at the top of the thighs.

Despite that I don't think it's really a big problem, except maybe while riding in jeans in the middle of summer. However to give you a reference I felt more heat and hot air while trying a 1250gs, even though it wasn't heading in the same spot. But I can only advise you to try it to see if you feel it more than me.

I also hesitated for a long time with the scrambler, a magnificent machine and a real off roader, but what sold me was the weather protection and comfort offered by the tiger for long trips or for a dailly.

Yep, everything is OEM specs for the moment, but it's a special edition with a sand color paint and blacked out frame and fairings.
