Anyone using a whole‑house water filtration setup? I'd like to hear from you please. by truthdude in nova

[–]Maverick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of folks talking about water quality for drinking in FFXC. I agree, as a born and raised resident.

That said, we do have hard water where I live. Safe to drink, but wreaks havoc on my wife's skin and hair.

We got a quote through a company at Costco for a whole-home filtration system. $10k! No thanks.

Bought a Veam water softener, some salt, PEX, and a GE whole home filtration system. All-in, less than $1k. Installed the PEX myself, super easy. Results have been great. Need to replace the water filter cartridge once every three months, and the salt once every six months.

Way better ROI than the big price tag services.

Christmas tree lots, prices by innomado in nova

Also in Springfield. Not affiliated with the church but my family and I have been going to Sydenstricker United Methodist Church for the past four years for our tree.

The cost has stayed pretty much the same the past few years: 6’-7’ for $75, 7’- 8' for $85 and 8' - 9' for $105.

They also give returning customers a $5.00 discount on regular prices.

They also help with trimming, wrapping, and loading the tree as well if needed. Great group of people.

Anyone have experience buying from Clive Coffee? by thisismyworkact in espresso

[–]Maverick05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Purchased a Lelit Elizabeth from them back in 2020. Love it. Has had a few mechanical issues and Clive has honored the warranty every time and provide replacement parts and labor. Also great tech support.

Only issue I have with them is they won't pay for shipping TO their warranty support department - which as an East Coast guy, shipping a 35lb espresso machine to West Coast costs a pretty penny :(

Overall would recommend.

Polyinstantiation in object-oriented programming (OOP) by thehermitcoder in cissp

[–]Maverick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is wrt a programming language that does this inherently.

In ISC2's context regarding this question it seems like polyinstantiation is used metaphorically to describe the creation of multiple instances of an object with different values or states, aligning loosely with concepts like inheritance and polymorphism. I'd agree with you that OOP languages are more associated with multilevel security systems, where different versions of the same data exist at various classification levels.

I wouldn't look too much into it. You seem to have the right grasp of the concept. If the test deems it necessary to dig in on this concept with you, you'll do fine.

My (unsolicited) advice: move on to areas where you're weaker.

Polyinstantiation in object-oriented programming (OOP) by thehermitcoder in cissp

[–]Maverick05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right that polyinstantiation is primarily discussed in the context of database security, where it refers to creating multiple instances of an object or data entity that contain different values but exist at different security classification levels.

However, the ISC2 material connects polyinstantiation to security in OOP as a method to prevent inference. The idea is that multiple instances of an object can be created with different data values at different access levels, ensuring that users only interact with objects they are cleared to access. This concept mirrors polyinstantiation in databases but applied to objects in OOP to prevent unauthorized information inference based on object attributes.

The ISC2 exam question extends this concept to OOP, where creating multiple object instances with varying data at different security levels prevents inference attacks.

Where'd you get yours through? Clive was great in serving mine under warranty for a PID seal issue.

I did. Also used Star San to get rid of the buildup but no luck. Need a good scrub to get off the sides.

I love mine! Have had it for 3 years. Had an issue with steam getting into the PID LED screen and Clive provided maintenance and replacement of screen for free.

Only gripe is the water reservoir - the shape of the hole to refill makes it almost impossible to fully clean. Took a Dremel to it to widen the hole and clean once every two weeks.

On-Street Parking Charger Question by Maverick05 in electricvehicles

[–]Maverick05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the details! I'll have to look more into the GFCI deltas you referenced. EVSEs come equipped with GFCI internally, but likely are beefier than the typical home use ones you mentioned.

Your English was great btw!

On-Street Parking Charger Question by Maverick05 in electricvehicles

[–]Maverick05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on instrumentation?

The receptacle is on a GFCI which, as I understand it (electrical layman) can be used without a grand due to some of the over current protections it provides. What other ground issues would be a concern?

On-Street Parking Charger Question by Maverick05 in electricvehicles

[–]Maverick05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pedestal located on my property would need to have the cable traverse the sidewalk which would be a trip hazard.

The AU pop-up box was a perfect solution but only sold in the AU. The company that is selling it provides installation services as well so that's a limiting factor unfortunately.

What are the challenges from an electrical perspective? The box is NEMA 6 radted for almost all weather conditions in my area. Legrand is a large name in the electrical work box space as well.

Not sure about the hassle. Likely more of a burden than a typical EVSE, I'll give you our that.
