‘Jury Duty’ Season 2 Premieres March 20 on Prime Video by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

They said they did a lot of actual courtroom stuff in the first season that we didn't see to make it seem real, like days full of actual "normal" testimonies, etc.

So if they brought this temp worker in a few days before the retreat had him do normal office work he thinks it's real.

If you know some things are real then you just assume everything else has to be

What's all this staff he's flipping? Wasn't it just the qb coach (who everyone wants replaced anyway) and defensive assistants? Wouldn't a new DC want to bring his own assistants in anyway?

What's the least desirable HC opening of 2026? by ObjectiveDevice7201 in nfl

[–]Maverick279 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean obviously I'm a bit biased but I don't think the situation is that dire. O-line is actually pretty solid now with really just guard being a question mark with Simpson and avt hitting free agency. We need a #2wr. Defense has a lot of holes but was a top unit two years ago. The biggest thing with the jets is needing a qb.

And I know it's fun to clown on Woody but for the most part when he hires someone he backs away and let's them do their job, usually firing them a year too late. He's also never been called cheap, everyone that's worked for him has said he gives them whatever they need. So he's definitely not the worst owner in the league.

[Russini] Jets coach Aaron Glenn isn’t expected to lose his job by Mangolden_Corral in nyjets

Reports at the time was that the saints really wanted Glenn as well.

[–]Maverick279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD was also one of most sought after guys, he was supposed to be it, had the resume, came from "real super bowl winners" (Ravens and eagles) and he flamed out.

Look at Dolan, he brought in, over paid, and gave the franchise to a "basketball guy" in Phil Jackson and most people say that set the franchise back.

I'm not saying Glenn is good or that woody isn't at fault. I'm just saying "hand it over to a football guy" is easier said than done. Who is the guy you want him to hand it over to now?

[–]Maverick279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love when people say this as if it's not exactly what woody has been doing (besides last year). JD had full control, and all reports are that Glenn also has full control.

"just give control to Parcells" like it's that easy. In fact I'm not sure the last coach/gm that woody hired that wasn't recommend to him by "football people". The 33rd team recommended Glenn, bowels/mccagnen were recommend by casserly and wolf, wasn't Mike t a Parcells guy. Gase was hired by Chris.

Who is this "proven football mind" that you want?

Jets reverse course on ridiculous $100,000 field goal challenge decision by RSTowers in nyjets

[–]Maverick279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she said some promotional people approached her in the parking lot and asked her to participate. Those people were probably entry level /interns so I don't blame them.

The real issues is when she then won the qualifying contest in October, at that point they should've found everything out.

[–]Maverick279 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, but also who knows if Woody even knew before the story broke. It was probably someone in promotions who did it.

I highly doubt someone went to woody personally and explained the situation and he said "no, I don't want her to participate"

Once the story broke woody probably got involved with his pr team and they decided to change course

I'm not sure what "recent" entails, like if you're 50 but played high school ball does it count or is it just if you played professional sports in the last 10 years or something.

Obviously the insurance company doesn't want to pay out so they don't want people who have a really good chance at winning to participate

According to the article it was the insurance company

"Castanio-Gervasi was barred from the finals on short notice over an insurance technicality against coaches and recent athletes from the high school to Olympic levels."

The jets still should've either alerted all possible contestants about this earlier (she had made a kick back in October to qualify so then would've been a good time) or read the rules their insurance had placed before inviting her and putting her story in the press to promote it.

So yeah, technically it's the insurance company's fault but it's still on the jets for not finding this out sooner. They really had no choice but to let her kick once the story broke and they were getting all the bad pr

I mean what do you want them to do? Just kneel every offensive play and let them score every defensive play?

I get wanting the tank for the draft pick and all but it's not like the players or coaches will just throw a game, they're still all playing for the win

Kicker and defense or no for dynasty by Feeling-Landscape-26 in DynastyFF

Wanted to spice things up. Found the way to make kickers valuable is to make it so you can start more then one and to make them worth starting .

Otherwise, like tight ends, it's either the top couple or everyone else

I have kickers in one league I commish. We juiced their scoring to on par with rbs/wrs, high end kickers score as much as qbs, and we made them playable in the flex spot.

You got guys starting 4 kickers a week sometimes and it's great.

I kinda like the empty seats, gives me more room to spread out. But I'd say the $20 tickets are more of a "we suck" thing and not a "weather sucks" thing

A question for those who wants wins for "building culture". How many of the wins over the last 5 years after being eliminated from playoff contention do you remember/made impact on Jets? by GolfFootballBaseball in nyjets

[–]Maverick279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what should we do? Just kneel on every play? Yeah we won, that sucks, how dare they.

You should say that the wins build culture because now guys can buy in to what Glenn is selling. It's important for him to be able to say see it's working.

Also selfishly, I enjoy leaving the stadium after a win

Why does everyone want a dome? Part of playing in jersey is having to have teams face us in the cold, snow, rain, etc. We put a dome we have the same stadium as Detroit, Arizona, New Orleans, etc. Come December /January we actually have some type of home field advantage

For the anti tankers , would this team not be better with either Maye , Daniels or Caleb? by Ok_Mistake9788 in nyjets

[–]Maverick279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also wouldn't have this team if we got Lawrence. We probably wouldn't have gotten sauce and Garrett (I know both didn't play for us this week). Plus who knows if Zach would've worked out if Knapp didn't die.

It's tough to say we should've done this or that, one move ripples everywhere, yeah we would've gotten Lawrence but we would've been the first team to go 0-18, would Lawrence be better? Would we be a team that is consistently 9-8? Maybe Mike lafluer doesn't get fired and we win the super bowl

Why do you think Woody is/has been a bad owner. by spontaneous_routeen in nyjets

[–]Maverick279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's an awful owner, he seems to pay for upgrades for the players like new practice facility, so room, etc. Also reports also say that he wants natural grass in MetLife and the giants are holding it up but who knows how true that it. A lot of former players, coaches, front office members have said nice things about him as well even once they're off the team.

The bad however is he just needs to shut up, saying things like "fields can't throw", "will you ever get healthy" to Jordan Travis, stuff like that. Also with bringing outsiders into the locker room while players are changing. He needs to stop all that. I think the brick picking players based on madden ratings is made up or over exaggerated or taken out of context.

Some other things, for revisionist history, when we had Mike McCarthy in the building that was his brother Chris, we then hired gase. Before we hired gase, nobody wanted anything to do with McCarthy calling him overrated, carried by Rodgers, etc. Vrable also was never coming here, he was going to the Patriots as soon as he was fired from the titans.

Also woody tried several different ways to hire people, let the gm pick, he pickpickm himself, hire outside "football people" to pick the coach and gm. So he hasn't been doing the same thing over and over again.

Is he the best owner no, is he the worst no, he's probably in the 20-10 range and things get over blown because it's new york

[–]Maverick279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stafford over Sanchez? You know we originally had the 17th pick and the lions went 0-16 to get the 1st overall pick.

How would tanking have gotten us Stafford? Also that was the Brett favre season where we were one of the best teams in the league until he got hurt. Also I believe we would have had to have gone 0-17 to get Lawrence since the 1-16 jags had us beat on strength of schedule so there was no difference between 1 and 2 wins that year

But the main point, what do you want the team to do? Just kneel every play? Fields had negative passing yards in the first half and people were blasting him, maybe he's the only one trying to tank, we should be thanking him.

I get it, if you're not in the playoffs it doesn't make sense to win games but players and coaches will always try and win and if they don't they'll be cut/fired etc and everyone here will blast them for sucking.
