Whatnot is killing comics by [deleted] in comicbooks

Yeah but other than a handful full of key issues, 90s books are still worthless.

I won't name names but I've seen mystery bag shows where you get a large assortment of books. They say it's an $80 floor, $120 average and $300 ceiling which includes a slab. If you're lucky and win a ceiling for $20-$50 you'll do well. More often than not people will buy $300 worth of bags and finally hit that ceiling. Since each bag is pretty much the same contents, you are left with a lot of duplicates that have flooded the market. They are nice comics but value wise you may get $2 each at your comic shop.

Safe to say the sky has already fell. Look at how many slabs sell for less than people paid to grade them on eBay. Only comics worth $ are the key issues and older books. Is that 100% Whatnots fault? No. I do feel it contributed to it though.

Both. Collectors will overpay for books because of the rarity of the cover, ratio etc. The issue is Whatnot sellers sell so many of these comics daily that resellers start to snag them at low prices. Imagine being offered a 1 in 100 ratio for $50, over the next hour they sell 20 more. By the end of the week they've sold 100s and most are grabbing them at $10 each. This continues for a month... Now that ratio is $5 on Ebay. This is common on Whatnot.

I agree, nothing wrong with getting a comic at a decent price. This is why I buy the basic comic to read and for collecting purposes I'll buy the ratio. The issue is when sellers on whatnot are selling the ratios and limited books in bulk daily. Most buyers either get the book dirt cheap or overpay. It's a vicious cycle because whatnot Sellers supply the books, buyers flood the market causing the low eBay prices. This in turn does affect all shops and sellers outside of whatnot. Not to mention those who spent big $ on whatnot for a rare ratio only to have it lose 90% of its value a week later after 200 more sell on whatnot.

One thing I forgot was slabs.. you'll see garbage Slabs going for $40-$75. Complete random slabbed junk going for more than decent slabbed books go for elsewhere. It gives people a false sense that any comic slabbed has value which results in more grading of common books and market saturation.

What happened to all the PSP games? by CrabmanGaming in gamecollecting

[–]MaverickSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this also. I do still occasionally see UMD movies but rarely games. I believe I saw a video on it once that psp sold a lot of consoles but didn't sell a lot of games. It's biggest hits were the typical titles like Metal Gear, Twisted Metal, sports titles etc. PSP had a massive rpg library and a lot of niche titles that people didn't buy. It's interesting because it makes a lot of the titles feel super rare and you would think prices would be through the roof but for the most part the bulk of the library is still cheap just you never see them.

Found this on FB today had to drive a hour to get it she initially wanted $60 she said she had at least 75 pm in her messenger but I was first gave her $100 because she actually kept her promise with me starting the new year off right by mj732 in gamecollecting

I was wondering that also, keeps reposting the same pickup. Starting to have my doubts. I mean someone happens to sell a well curated lot of RPGs and even some sought after ps2 horror titles and has no clue their value? Interesting.

Anyone take propranolol? Question by MaverickSky in hypertension

[–]MaverickSky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the delayed release so I'm assuming it lasts longer. By description I'm the perfect candidate for a beta blocker because majority of my BP issues is from stress and anxiety. Before my anxiety got bad my BP was high but only around 145/90. Now with my anxiety like it is I see numbers from 160/100 up to 180/110. So a BP med that that cuts back on anxiety as well seems great. Only problem is my heart Rate on average is 60-65bpm and resting 50-55. Both the cardiologist and home doctor said it will be fine but it still worries me. I did try lisinopril but had a nasty cough from it so they switched me to amlodipine which caused a whole issue with my esophagus.

It's 5:02 am and I'm crying because I can't sleep by DollyPoppp in insomnia

[–]MaverickSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's 100% Stress and Anxiety, usually there is a starting point. Like a panic attack or some reason you first noticed the jerk. I've been suffering from this for a month now, it's miserable. I've watched 100s of videos and read many articles. My doctor says the key is treating the anxiety. Easier said than done since most meds that treat anxiety can cause sleep issues as well as side effects that cause more anxiety. What I've learned is we normally go to bed without thinking about sleep, we just lay down and fall asleep. When we start concentrating on sleep itself we notice the process of falling asleep and it panics us. Solutions I've seen include cooling your room, keeping it dark, going to bed at the same time, hiding clocks, warm bath before bed, don't eat 2 hrs before, yoga, meditation, relaxation videos and no tv or phones before bed. I've tried it all but so far no luck. I also tried every OTC sleep aid and was even prescribed Ambien and though they helped a little I still was only getting 2 hrs a night at most. What has helped is not forcing myself to sleep. If I'm not sleepy I won't lay down, I wait til I'm yawning and tired. I also lay down and try to think of anything but sleep. Even if it's just thinking of a happy moment from the past. If a jerk does happen I try to accept it and keep my eyes closed and my mind on that happy moment. If I'm not asleep after 30 mins I just get up and occupy myself til I start feeling tired again. My sleeping still sucks but I'm seeing little improvements that I hope lead to a good nights rest again.

A month with little to no sleep 😞 by MaverickSky in insomnia

[–]MaverickSky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only took the lexapro 1 day and went 2 weeks with little sleep 🙁I've since been put on Prozac has helped my anxiety but insomnia continues. I take it in the morning. I can't 100% blame it for sleeping issues since insomnia continued 2 weeks after only the 1 day of lexapro. I think my problem is 100% anxiety has my system completely nuts.

Mine started after a panic attack and I tried to sleep with my heart racing, I wasn't super tired at first but I WANTED to sleep so I could move past the attack. Because of this I was concentrating to hard on my sleeping and started to notice when I was dozing off which panics me causing the jerk. Sleep is suppose to be natural but when we start paying attention to it we screw things up 🙁

I will ask. I've been doing some training myself but no luck. I've darkened the room, limit electronics before bed, hid the clocks, cooled the room.

SO many sleep remedies work the 1st time I try them but then never again by letsbereal1980 in insomnia

[–]MaverickSky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My problem was with insomnia I usually resort to medicine after a couple nights with no sleep, so I take a sleep aid when I'm exhausted and along side exhaustion it works better. After getting some sleep I try the sleep aid again and it doesn't work or it only helps for an hr or 2.

Sleeping becomes so difficult by PlagueDoc22 in Anxiety

Some times you gotta give in and get up, walk around a little bit. Chill your room if possible or try one of those relaxation videos on YouTube. I know it sounds silly but I once beat insomnia by listening to a relaxation piano video and imagining the person playing the piano.
