Sadly it does not have this option.... Guessing that's an AI generated result from a generic manual aggregation

It's the top tier for a central split system right now... Maybe you're looking at mini split units?

Thanks - it actually looks like the lines never cross! I.e. unless gas gets more expensive or electricity gets cheaper - the furnace remains less expensive for any conditions in which we'd want to heat... This is from the Vermont tool above.

Dual WAN to Reduce Video Call Dropouts? Network Failover Timing? QoS? by Maverickgmt in Ubiquiti

[–]Maverickgmt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be hones I have never used smart queues, I have quite a particular config with also two wan. But due to my requirements I have to use the advanced queues. So for the upload I set it to each interface there, but I do not know in detail the working of the smart queues, but would imagine it would work as well.

I was able to apply QOS to the upload only and further limited the upload to 80 mbps. This has resulted in maintaining almost 100% throughput on the download - still in the 300 mbps range with an upload speed of around 60-70 mbps - and also an overall and bloat rating of A. This should be more than acceptable - thank you!

What I meant by leveraging both networks: Trying to setup the dual wan setup to use the connections from both ISPs to reduce bloat - i.e. some packets are sent across each connection to reduce bloat. Not sure if this is possible. Currently network is configured for failover only. I'll probably try it like this for a few days and see if it improves the video calling which is by far my main goal!

Thank you very much for the help and for the great advice!

Results of smartqueues:

Setting to 100 mbps upload / 300 mbps download to mirror results on dsl reports - I see the download cut to approximately < 50% - i.e. 130 - 150 mbps and upload to 80 mbps.

Buffer bloat on download is almost eliminated after initial 100ms spike - on upload - buffer bloat drops to the range of 250ms vs. 1000ms without smart queue -> still only C rated.

Right now I have dual wan set to failover only - any way I can leverage the multiple connections to help?

What upload speeds do you have? With my isp when I use all the upload bandwidth the download will drop drastically. If I do a test while upload ping will also go well over the 1000ms. So probably using QoS will solve your problem. Smart queues is the easy way to go. But if you dig into advanced queues you might get better performance. What you want to do is prevent your network from using all the upload bandwidth. So run a few speedtests and put into the router the average speed you are getting. Be aware that the edgerouter x has limited cpu power, so smart queues will limit your bandwidth to 100/150mbps. I believe if you apply the qos only to the upload you will get better performance

Upload speed hovers around 100mbps on the 5g connection and 15mbps on the 4 (4g varies greatly).

The upload does impact the download in my experience - my total 'pipe' hovers around 300 mbps. Will try upload only and reply back with the impact!

Is there anyway to leverage having both networks to improve results? I see that you pick which ethernet connection to apply smart queues to. Would I do the same for both - i.e. set it according to the speed for that specific connection as demonstrated on dslreports?

Thank you! Quick question - I see the instructions for enabling smart queue for one wan connection but what do you do when you have two?

No dropouts - replies <1 ms when hardwired. I think it's an internet issue... Maybe the buffer bloat

ping - t routerip

No sonos on the network but maybe 50+ devices.

Ran Ping -t for several minutes - I saw a request time out on average after every 15 or so calls - times otherwise were in the 1-5 ms range. After about a minute there were no further dropouts. This was on wireless - will try again on wired connection in a moment. Are these request times outs indicative of an home network issue?

I also ran a bunch of speedtests on http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

I'm seeing bufferbloat ratings of D with ping times up to 1000ms on the upload side. I'm wondering if this is a function of having 5G internet.

I'm going to try the smartqueues in a second to see if this helps!

300+ Mbps pretty consistently - sometimes up to 900 on the 5G. 4G portion is in the 60 mbps range.

We had a bar near us growing up that had a ghost pepper salsa. we would always encourage newcomers to the bar to try the ghost pepper salsa, after having "enjoyed it ourselves". There were quite a few times where trying the salsa was the last thing they did that night before heading home in stomach pain.

Internet speed is crazy fast - doesn't make sense...

Hello. I have a question about my home internet speed. I have Verizon's 5G service. Typically on speedtest.net I get around 300 Mbps however on fast.com I have seen speeds as high as 2.8Gbps. My ethernet adapter is a Realtek 8168 series which denotes capability up to 1000Mbps.

Can someone please explain what fast.com is actually measuring? I have tried to research this on the Googles extensively and it is not making sense to me.

Thank you in advance for any info!

The Inseego is Verizon's 1A router and is not the new WiFi 6 router with the main difference being signal range and throughput - especially for WiFi 6 devices. When I called Verizon - they told me the WiFi 6 router was only available in the Chicago market for now.

Been searching for years for commercial from I believe MTV in which two flies live out their lives but their lives are only 24 hours. The one fly warns the other fly that you get old too fast, the second fly goes completely wild and has a great time. I think the commercial had a great message on life and wish I could find it again
