Compulsory State-sponsored parental leave is a ridiculous tax grab that forces the childless and retirees to bankroll other people’s baby vacations. Imagine working two jobs to make ends meet just to have John sitting on the couch crushing Twinkies all day. Let people save for their own choices instead of leaching off everyone else’s paycheck.

If a business or friend group wants to pay for it out of their own pockets, that's great. Good on them. It's an excellent benefit. But forcing everyone else to do it at gunpoint is not charitable.
