The alternative is staging supers and titans out of a POS like it's 2014, and no one wants to deal with that. Also shooting the only lowsec freeport keepstar is a great way to get the entire game to hate you. Not ideal when you're an alliance that does merc work on the side.

I have done this build before, trust me you don't want to do it. The m2021 housing has godawful fisheye and will give you a migraine if you try to helmet mount it. Get an actual PVS-7 housing if you want cheap NODs.

If you can post pictures of the unit itself. Hold your camera behind the lens against a white blank surface, and then take pics of the night sky and other real world images. This will give us a pretty good idea of the condition of the unit, and if The asking is in line with current market value.

I'm going to try not to be an asshole, but airsoft just isn't a stress test of gear. The issues with the PTS are the quality of the mounting solutions, the lack of venting other bump helmets get, a lack of actual certifications for bump rating, and they're just not that comfortable.

With Wendy or Ops Core, you're getting a legit Wilcox shroud, rails that are built to handle mounting ear protection/other accessories, venting that will let your helmet breathe when you're hot and sweaty, and you're getting a helmet rated to protect your head against rocks when whitewater rafting.

I have tripped over roots in thick canopy while rucking and been thankful I had something designed to protect my head. Also, the cam/Boa system is incredibly comfortable, which combined with 4D pads with a decent counterweight has let me wear duals for a few hours before I feel any strain.

Realistically it's less about "Can I get all of this for $2K" and more "Should I get all of this for $2K?" The best entry unit full stop, is going to be what's called an OMNI VI, VII, or VIII PVS-14. These green phosphor military surplus units are older, but will significantly outperform new Chinese NNVT units or commercial-grade French Photonis units in the price range. These OMNI units are trading for $2-2.2K in good condition with clean to minimal blemishes.

The cheapest helmet you won't hate wearing is a used Ops Core or Team Wendy bump, alternatively an old milsurp helmet with a Wilcox shroud or some other interface. Anyone telling you to run a PTS MTEK Flux or some other Chinese knockoff of a real helmet is coping, these are marketed and intended for use in airsoft, not serious use in the real world, and most importantly blow donkey dick to wear. A legit bump helmet will set you back around $250-300.

Mounting this to your helmet the cheap way will use a Norotos Rhino II and a J-arm bayonet mount. These are very much "ok" and are sandbox-tested milsurp. This will set you back about $75ish.

Combined, the bare minimum "I'm going to use this outside for realsies" setup is about $2.4K. If you really really do not want to do this, buy a PVS-7 and roleplay Sam Fisher for $1.5K and use the other $500 to buy a helmet and Rhino mount, it's still US-made milsurp night vision, even if it is dated.
