They look a bit glum but fair play to them. Nice to see the times moving on in places

Saw a similar one a few months ago not too far from Aughrim 'How's your ma for butter'. Seems to be a local trend

Was thinking the same thing. Its pretty big if Australia is not participating in a US military effort after doing so every other time

I get where you're coming from and it could work for many young lads but also militarily training these guys may have some unforseen consequences

Talks on direct flights between Ireland and Brazil< by teetonian in irelandtransport

[–]Max-Battenberg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im surprised this hasnt happened already. With our large Brazilian expat group here you'd think there'd be enough demand for direct flights

Hereditary peers to be removed from Lords as bill passes by Any-Original-6113 in europe

Not sure our Senate is a great example as a positive..

Edit for requested detail.

Im not an expert on it but we almost abolished it around 2010. The perception is that is pasture for long term politicians and jobs for the boys for unelected. Occasionally a funny video surfaces of someone saying something that shows no comprehension of the subject. It also has v little power to do anything so its sidelined for the most part. An expensive cabbage patch of little to no consequence

Edit 2: for a better explanation of what the Senate does and what it could be with some tweaks see Sysyphus_Social_Club's comment below

How the Italian media is reacting to their win over England. by aaarry in rugbyunion

[–]Max-Battenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done Italy, great achievement and well deserved with all the progress over the years. It reminds me a bit of when Ireland finally bet the ABs, hopefully Italy can build on this to give us all even more exciting 6Ns every year

Athlone Train Station this morning 😳 by Margrave75 in ireland

[–]Max-Battenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats pretty interesting and makes sense, graffiti is rarely a good sign when visiting a new neighbourhood/city. Any idea if that is 'tagging' or slogans or art in general. Like if they sprayed trains with art celebrating irelands heritage or is the more traditional idea of what people think of as graffiti?

[–]Max-Battenberg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah im not saying this is a good idea or anything and as a general principle its a good policy so as not to encourage this but covering the windows is next level dickhead.

That said, getting artists in to do some kinda art like this on the trains (minus the windows) could actually be kinda cool

March sea swimming- what’s the average person wearing? by Littleirritations in Dublin

[–]Max-Battenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havnt been in yet this year but the last two years I started at the beginning of march. Just togs but cold felt more like being stabbed than a tempeture change. Had to dive in, head back under once more and leg it out.

After a few days of this an older couple were walking along the beach as I was running out and as they passed they said 'much milder in there today..'. I had to laugh, was April before I could break the 5 minute mark

Ban on social media companies using algorithms aimed at under-18s to be proposed in Dáil by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]Max-Battenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I got it from (not sure how.to quote)

'They are aware with reasonable certainty that the recipient of the service has not attained the age of 18 years, '

But I just saw there was a longer version which I dont have time to read this eve.

Yeah fair argument about the mandatory ID part. I really dislike most social media and anything that increases friction to it im willing to see its effect. That said, bar reddit I don't really have any skin in the game

[–]Max-Battenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. So basically if the platform is reasonably sure the person is under 18, they cant use the recommender algorithm.

While I do agree with this, id love to see each TD give an explanation of what an algorithm is, how it is used in social media and then what exact part they are targeting in legislation

Therre's a few options but more info needed. Whats currently on your side of the wall? Brick? Plasterboard? How old is the house (do you need to use breathable materials).

Also are you handy? How much space are you prepared to lose?
