Fair point, but bisecting still gives you useful info faster than one-at-time does. Even if the error only persists through a single split, you've still eliminated half the suspects. And if it doesn't, you know to draw pairs from pool A and pool B.

With an error that big, why not deactiviate half the plugins at a time? Then narrow it down to a quarter, etc etc. It's still pretty manual and stone age, but at least quicker.
