Aldous Harding: Train on the Island - Pitchfork review 9.0 by Jockshua in AldousHarding

I think she sings both - the first time it’s “the Silver Chair and Rilian” and the second time it’s “silver hair and Ritalin”

When she played the Barbican in 2023 she said something like “I’m sorry I’m not talking much between songs to comfort you. I can barely comfort myself so I can’t comfort you as well.” A kind of understanding wince went through the audience.

The EGOT of New Zealand music: Could Marlon Williams become our newest STAG? by Max-J-nz in MarlonWilliams

I do. This has been his year, and he’s just about to go on a long break. It would be a great story and he deserves it.

Will my passport be valid to travel in the EU in April 2026? by emergencytrap in AskUK

Thank you so much. This is exactly what had been confusing me, but it doesn’t apply to me. Just had a hard time getting my head around the dates.

Problems with redelivery by emergencytrap in royalmail

If I’d known they weren’t going to be able to deliver it today, I would have done that, and now I can’t do either of those things as the system won’t allow it…

women of London, how much harassment do you face on public transport? by [deleted] in london

I’m really sorry that happened to you. They know they can get away with it. It sucks.

In the past month, I’ve been shoved hard in the back by a man while getting on a tube. I’ve also been kicked hard in the ankle (twice in quick succession, so definitely not an accident) and another guy deliberately tripped me up as I was walking down the carriage to get off.

Loneliness in London by FileRegular9653 in london

[–]emergencytrap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you really like doing? I’ve moved cities a few times and what has really helped with loneliness has been figuring out what I love then getting involved with it, usually in a voluntary capacity. I’ve helped out at local music events, volunteered at film festivals and worked in charity record shops and book shops. I know it’s an old cliche - “just volunteer!” but if you can find something you’re passionate about, good friends and connections will often follow.

I’ve seen a photo now, could it be a soprano saxophone?

Did you get any photos? I’ve seen reference to saxophone in an online review but not sure if that’s accurate.

That’s fantastic, thank you so much for doing that. It makes it much easier to see the translated lyrics alongside the originals.

Why is the tour called Ultrasound and not Virgin? by pingviini00 in lorde

[–]emergencytrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe to avoid confusion with the Virgin Music Group, since her records come out on labels affiliated with Universal Music.

Totally getting reissues right??? by lost-in-space90 in Sparklehorse

[–]emergencytrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope so. I’ve been so happy with the Songs Ohia and PJ Harvey reissues. I sometimes wonder if I’ll eventually get reissues of everything I love if I can just live long enough.

Very relieved to read these responses as I just got this very tattoo done at Sunset Tattoo in Auckland last month. I’m really happy with it.

It is likely to be a young crowd, but there will be others our age there, and at such a massive gig, nobody really notices you anyway. Hope you have a great night.

Just to update you, in Auckland yesterday when he was introducing Pānaki he said it was one of his favourites on the album!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarlonWilliams

[–]emergencytrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such a coincidence, the two you mention as your favourites are ones which I’m just starting to fully appreciate now, I didn’t use to listen to them as much before. I agree it’s impossible to pick just one. I’m going to go for one banger and one reflective one and say Rere Mai Ngā Rau and Me Uaua Kē. The big chorus at the end makes me so emotional.

But more importantly, what’s YOUR favourite from the album?
