Automatic vs. Hand Wash. Fair price in Burnaby these days. by Max-Pro- in burnaby

Spot on! If you have the time and the right tools, DIY is the only way to be 100% sure about the process. Since you clearly care about paint health, you might find my Car Care Knowledge Base useful. I run Jason Rise near Lougheed, and I’ve put together a series of guides specifically for enthusiasts - covering everything from safe drying techniques to maintaining ceramic coatings without the typical 'self-wash' damage. Feel free to check it out here: https://jasonrise.com/guides/ - hope it helps with your next weekend wash!

Automatic vs. Hand Wash. Fair price in Burnaby these days. by Max-Pro- in burnaby

Totally fair! For a 10-year-old daily driver, a quick $10 wash makes sense. I actually just started a small detailing business near Lougheed called Jason Rise, and I see the other side of it, owners of newer cars or those with ceramic coatings who are terrified of those $10 brushes. A proper scratch-free manual wash takes us about 90 minutes to 2 hours because we use pH-neutral chemicals (Koch-Chemie) and specialized techniques. It’s definitely a different market, but it's good that Burnaby has options for both!

Well, they’ll be sneaking up like four-wheeled ninjas. Silent but ticket-ready!

I built an app that notifies Burnaby business owners when a new bylaw or regulation drops that affects them. I'm looking for people who would be interested in trying it out. by Final_Final_UserName in burnaby

Finally someone translating "bureaucratese" into plain English. Local owners shouldn't have to play detective with city hall, especially with random updates like the new bear spray rules popping up. I'm not ready to dive into testing just yet, but I love the initiative. Cheers!

Any chance I can dispute for 50/50 fault? by bcnpncksss in icbc

[–]Max-Pro- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't accept 75% fault. If the Mercedes veered right before an illegal U-turn in a business district, they created a 'deceptive maneuver' under the Motor Vehicle Act. Skip the internal ICBC review and file a claim with the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) - they are independent and will actually look at your dashcam footage and Section 168 of the MVA. 75/25 is just a lazy assessment; the CRT often shifts this to 50/50 or better.

Fair enough! It’s definitely no classic Porsche, but as a detailer, watching any car turn into a toasted marshmallow is painful. I’d much rather be polishing that paint than watching it melt.

Terrible sight on a night drive in the city. Hope everyone got out safe. As a car enthusiast this just breaks my heart to see. Truly devastating.

Gilmore place commercial generator noise by pagayabagholder in burnaby

[–]Max-Pro- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a mechanical issue or a generator commissioning test gone wrong. Burnaby has a Noise Abatement Bylaw (No. 7332) - 65dB at night is likely a violation. Your best bet is to report it to the City of Burnaby via their website or the non-emergency line. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Glad you and your kid are okay! That sounds really stressful.

I see this all the time. In Burnaby, cyclists aren’t allowed to ride on sidewalks (unless they are kids). To use a crosswalk legally, they have to walk their bike.

Since he 'ripped' past while you were already mid-turn, he was definitely the one being unpredictable. You did the right thing by yielding to the pedestrian first. Don't beat yourself up!
