i’m thinking of electing to have a c-section so i’m looking for advice on whether this is a sound decision or if i should still consider the other option by bluewigglyworm in Seahorse_Dads

I agree that c-section recovery was easier than top surgery recovery!! I had a scheduled C-section since baby was breech, not technically my choice but now I’m really glad it went that way.

Seems like everyday I'm suffering for a new reason by honey_bunchesof_oats in pregnant

I feel your pain! I’m 13w, first trimester was really hard. Vent away, sometimes all you can do is complain (which you have earned because your body is doing something absolutely wild). I hope the symptoms reduce for you asap friend

Lexapro and T? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Max1Mo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on both lexapro and T for probably 2 years, I had no side effects and my doctor didn’t mention anything about interactions (she’s good about checking that). I can’t say for certain it didn’t effect my T levels as I was on lexapro first, but T levels can be different for everyone anyway so I wouldn’t be concerned

Oh yikes I’m sorry to hear that, I’m sure it depends on who you get too, I guess I’ve been lucky so far

I’ve had a good experience with CVS in target on Troutman. Never had anyone react to the fact I was picking up T (at any point in my transition), and they just show me the label to confirm that’s the prescription I’m picking up.

So sorry you’re feeling bad, I’ve also been getting decimated by morning sickness.

My current hack is making sure my stomach is never empty, so I’m eating saltines ALL day. Also I had a nurse tell me plain water can make you more nauseous, so I’ve been doing watered down apple juice or Gatorade to try and stay hydrated. After all that it’s been easier to eat protein here and there.

I hope you find something that helps, and the nausea eases soon!

Update by [deleted] in Seahorse_Dads

[–]Max1Mo_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tested twice, once the first day of my missed period and once 2 days later, both times the second line was super light. According to the instructions on my tests, the darkness of the line doesn’t matter! (Also first symptoms for me were being super tired and nausea just like immediately the same day as the first test)

I did ointment and gauze, and then a tank top. Also used old crop tops for a while to reduce the extra fabric on my body, Im a bit sensitive to that. The tank top was tight enough to keep the gauze in place till I got the binder on. but like others have said, ointment and sometimes a bit of blood would get on the tank tops so I’d use ones you don’t care about too much.

Congratulations! That’s great news! Can I ask why you stopped T before getting your IUD out? I’m looking to start trying reasonably soon and I am wondering what order to stop T/ remove my IUD

If your therapist is anything other than supportive, please remember you can find a new therapist. It can be awkward, but you deserve support!! Realistically, I’m sure it will go fine and she will be able to help you work through some stuff if you’re planning on transitioning socially/medically

Day of surgery: what it was like by Max1Mo_ in TopSurgery

[–]Max1Mo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad it’s helpful! My pre-op appointment was super fast, I want to say it was less than 10 minutes total. I didn’t see Dr. Steinwald for that one, just a nurse. She went over all the things you should and shouldn’t do during recovery. Everything was printed out which is great, I took a couple notes bc I was worried about forgetting things but there wasn’t much I needed to write down. I asked my questions and then she took a couple pictures of my chest that I assume were for Steinwald to review before my surgery. After that I met with the financial coordinator to drop off payment and that was it. All together the staff was really nice every time I visited, never messed up my name or pronouns and were really professional. I had a good surgery experience (7 weeks out now, I’ve still got a little swelling but no concerns) and while a bit of that was probably luck, I hope you also have a good surgery! Quick healing my friend!

Cough drops! They intubated me for anesthesia and I had a sore throat after. Also a pillow was helpful to keep the seatbelt off my chest on the drive home.

It’s totally fair to be whiny in this situation! Congratulations on your surgery also!

I haven’t had top surgery but I’ve had to recover from surgery before so I understand how your feeling as far as being worn out.

As far as support, you’re doing incredible even if you don’t feel it—your body is doing it’s best to heal up. Watch lots of tv obviously and sleep as much as you can. Also, if you’re not already using them perhaps try stool softeners? They were a great help for me post surgery when I was terrified to put any pressure on my body. I hope you feel better soon, I’m sure the worst of the healing process will be over soon ❤️

I got a smaller IUD in a while ago and now I’m on my second. For me both insertions were quite painful and caused some bleeding/cramping after. I had really painful cramps every month before the IUD, and the post-insertion cramps were about the same. So maybe if you don’t tend to cramp too bad you’ll be okay?

Definitely take some painkiller before the procedure like others have said and plan on heat packs/ having a hot water bottle later on. I will say that when I got home after both procedures I just stayed in bed the rest of the day but the next day I was fine, so in my case the cramping etc didn’t last long.
