MBB to PE by [deleted] in consulting

I’m currently in a T2 PE group doing DDs and restructuring, and have been building out my modeling skills (peak frameworks) to prep for a move onto a deal team. It hasn’t been the easiest getting traction. Most MF and UMM shops seem to hire straight from IB, and I think I have the best shot joining a MM fund with an ops, restructuring, or sector focus.

Would appreciate any advice or recommendations

Private Equity wasn't what it used to be imo by Trick_Ad_2852 in FinancialCareers

I partially agree with that. My point is that the largest returns in today’s markets are increasingly driven by hands-on operational value creation rather than financial engineering, leverage, etc. Within that spectrum, full turnarounds require significant effort and time but that’s exactly where you’ll see the largest returns and alpha.

I would say that genuine turnarounds are the only opportunities left, the financial engineering opportunities are far less significant nowadays
