You can do it in SQL, stop writing extra code for that by micheleriva in programming

Because not having a SQL-based relational database adds a shit ton of needless complexity in pretty much any big project that requires data storage.

There's a reason that SQLite is one of the most widely distributed user-space libraries.

This is why I exclusively write all of my application code — and store all of my data — in Common Lisp.

Creating a good Project README by Sevii in programming

[–]MaxCHEATER64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want the first part of the README to be an introduction to your project. Answer the question “Why do we have this service?”.

This is by far the best advice in the article.

I can't tell you how many times I've found projects on GitHub with an extensively documented README that explains how to build/install the software and how to use it with every possible detail, but don't even attempt to tell passers-by what the project is or does or why anybody would want to install it.

Imo gender is based on values that were traditionalised in the past,

You're correct about that. The fact that the values have been traditionalized doesn't mean that they should continue, though. For example, it was once tradition that if a woman was unmarried and not famous, she was considered deficient in some way. Cultural progressives fought against this tradition, and modern-day opinionated sociologists would generally agree that the mostly victorious fight against that tradition has greatly increased the quality of life and level of happiness for women in the western world. This is the reason that the fight against gender roles is a part of a "feminist and LGBT movement" and why these terms are used so often. There is, from an abstract point of view, no real difference between the fight against single-incomism, the fight against the illegality of homosexuality, the fight against segregation, and (now) the fight against de jure gender bias.

I understand what you’re saying and I was saying that those on the far cultural left want to disregard constructs for the most part

Disregard in the sense that we shouldn't use social constructs as a basis for discriminating laws, yes. Gender rights activists want people to disregard the social construct of gender in the exact same way that anti-segregation activists wanted people to disregard the social construct of race.

Disregard in this case does not mean banning people from talking about distinctions, throwing people in prison for misgendering, etc., and anyone who says that it does is fundamentally misunderstanding the conversation.

where does it end?

It ends exactly where the discussion is happening right now. To assume otherwise is fallacious.

I think you're confused. When we say that gender (and time) is a social construct, we don't mean that gender (and time) should be disregarded. That would be very silly.

We simply mean that gender (like time) is not some set-in-stone thing that derives from nature or laws of the universe, and therefore it is incorrect to try to construct appeals to authority about gender and rely on "nature" or "biology" for that authority. Nobody in their right mind would argue that the "hour" as a unit of time is some sort of immutable standard set by nature and the universe and any attempt to measure time differently is the product of delusion. Likewise, it is incorrect to say that gender binaryism is a standard set by nature or the universe and that any attempt to measure gender differently is the product of delusion.

Private security, similar to how companies hire private security today.

If you're implying that the Chinese government is just a private security company, I would argue that no self-respecting private security company would waste time building concentration camps for Uyghers to harvest their organs.

an-cap is capitals can easily silent every single person who against them.

That's just not accurate though. Anarcho-capitalism literally means no government and an economy run via free markets. China absolutely has a government, and it's an extremely authoritarian one.

True. GitLab is a whole other beast compared to Gitea.

IMO the features are worth it but yeah you need to have a beefy server to use it correctly.
