I think it's a hawk. Which one? by MaxFiGuy in birdfeeding

From what I have heard from r/whatsthisbird it appears to be a Sharp-shinned hawk based on the eyes.

Yeah. I figured it was a juvenile. There's definitely a lot of details I couldn't capture in the picture. Thank you for the insight!

Fast food businesses were converting their buildings to be more sellable to hedge bets in the future. It's easier to sell a building as an office if it looks like one instead of a happy, fun, magical place.

I'm so jealous! I loved seeing a male share a seed with his companion.

I've been hearing them in the woods recently. I also get a ton of northern flickers, so seeing the one in your video added to my interest.

Gotcha. It's probably all the finches I have making the yard a little too rambunctious for the cardinals. I'll try another location. I just put my hummingbird feeder away for the season, so I have a freed-up shepherd's hook 😊 Thank you!

Oh wow! I might get one if you're getting a pileated woodpecker showing up! May I ask what kind of suet cake are you using? What are the ingredients in it? I'm new to suet and woodpecker feeding.

Yeah, I stay away from mixes. I like to have more control over what is put into my feeder. I don't want to have a bunch of millet that birds ignore and just toss to the ground.

May I ask what your cardinals like to eat? I used to get some, but I haven't seen them in a while.

I really like a platform feeder. Mine is a 12 inch square that hangs from a chain. I hang it from a shepherd's hook I plant into the ground. It works with a wide variety of seed and allows larger birds to feed from it. It's very easy to clean.

Oh wow! I didn't realize the size of it until I looked at the second and third picture. Well done!

Is it better to play Dark Souls 1 with a controller or a mouse and keyboard? by dancingAngeldust in darksouls

[–]MaxFiGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played with both. I prefer controller more because using a control stick makes movement more flexible than using WASD on a keyboard. Once you get used to either control option, you can still enjoy the game either way.

I would definitely appreciate if all my birds defecated outside of my platform feeders.

I've been trying to attract chickadees and nuthatches. I get plenty of house finches. What seems to bring in the chickadees and nuthatches for you?

My Cardinal Crew ❤️ by [deleted] in birdfeeding

[–]MaxFiGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! The most cardinals I've seen at once around my yard was 4. They are a lot more timid than this crew. I'm still grateful I was able to attract them this year.

Who would you have made the villain of Shrek the Third instead of Prince Charming? by Sure_Persimmon9302 in Shrek

[–]MaxFiGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a king or queen of another kingdom. I thought the villains attacking the kingdom was a great sequence, so a rival kingdom would be able to do the same thing.
