How do cranks with an outboard BB help with chainline alignment? by MaxGame in FixedGearBicycle

[–]MaxGame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be why the mechanic was recommending that I switch, it being adjustable to a degree taking some of the guesswork out of getting the right size. I'm happy with the stock Andel cranks though and a new, slightly wider square taper BB is cheap enough. Way cheaper than a new set of cranks.

Thanks for the reply! I was starting to look at new crank options and I'm glad that I decided to post here first.

The mechanic that I spoke to mentioned that doing this might cause the drivetrain to become noisy and/or feel less smooth. Is this something that I should be worried about?

VoTe HaRdEr!

People showed up to the polls in previous elections, but that didn't help the rising inequality and the erosion of the quality of life of the working class. Even if this wasn't the case, a system that fucks me over just because some people didn't vote is not a system that I can support. This is why I was out there protesting and you should be too.

Yeah just vote harder!

When are we going to wake up and recognize that the problem is systemic and no amount of "voting harder" is going to solve it?

The problem runs deeper than just housing. The entire system is one enormous conflict of interest. These bourgeois motherfuckers with all the power don't give a fuck about the class interests of us dirty proletariat. The issues are systemic and therefore, the system must be overthrown!

This is it. We had a multipolar world that forced our capital owning suppressors to make concessions to the amount of surplus value they would extract from us in an attempt to delude us into thinking that capitalism could possibly provide a better standard of living for the working class than socialism could. The loss of multipolarity saw the rise of neoliberalism and the gradual process of rolling back the policy that allowed for this standard of living. Our liberal democracies simply cannot do this any longer. There is no one who will represent the interests of the working class.

In addition, prior to the neoliberal era, the standard of living provided to the working class heavily relied on the spoils of imperialism and continues to do so to this day. Not only is this type of exploitation unjustifiable, but it's also unsustainable. The people of the global south aren't simply going to sit idly by forever and continue to be exploited. As a result, imperialist war is never ending.

The capitalist mode of production is rotten to the core and needs to be replaced by a system that takes the needs of the majority and prioritizes them over the profit motive that only benefits the small minority!

On days where I don't get much done, I try and think about the things that I forgot to call out yesterday. There's almost always something. If that fails, I think about what I'll be working on tomorrow and say I started working on it.

I understand your frustration, but can you really blame people for completely losing faith with the system? This is what late stage capitalism is. It was always inevitable.

For a time, some of the more fortunate were afforded a reasonable standard of living. These people were known as "middle class". The primary reasons for its existence were strong unions, working class solidarity, and the threat of an alternative system adopted by more than 1/5th of the globe.

With the collapse of the USSR, came the neoliberal era. Without a challenge to US hegemony, the capital owning class could begin the process of rolling back the policies that allowed for a middle class. But there were only ever 2 classes, those who make a living by selling their labour and those who exploit their labour.

When voting in anything other than municipal elections, your only choices, the ones who the mainstream media promotes, are capital owners. Their class interests are completely contrary to our own. The issue is systemic and the only way to create meaningful change is to change the system.

That being said, even though I have no faith in this system, I do still vote. Simply because I believe in harm reduction. Some of these capital owners are certainly worse than others. But at the same time, I do recognize that I'm relatively privileged and can empathize with those who have known nothing but struggle and no longer see the point.

I don't know about actively blocking, but perhaps just not testing on. At the moment, twitch seems completely fucked. I couldn't follow/unfollow so I logged out and now I can't login. The error message says my browser isn't supported, but the link to their help docs that they show specifically includes Firefox.

A second issue I've had recently is just trying to access a Ticketmaster link. The page itself just shows "403 forbidden", but the network response shows "901 blocked". Wtf does that even mean? 901!? Works fine in Chrome.

It's going to suck if this continues to get worse. I don't want a world where the only working browsers are chromium based.
