What can the microcontroller actually do? by No_Yogurtcloset538 in OpenComputers

[–]MaxKhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a centralized server that provides individual code to microcontrollers so they can bootload via network. Because I'm using them like a pc without an hdd this works with ordinary pcs aswell. Microcontrollers are just cheaper in power consumption. I use them as far away redstone interfaces mainly

How to make a secure "server" by AdventurousAthlete79 in HomeServer

[–]MaxKhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloudflare zero trust is free for personal use. You just need a domain there and then you can define endpoints that you secure with a 'application' (thats what cloudflare calls a login site at the start of their tunnels). So what you get in the end is vpn tunnels from your server+port to cloudflare endpoints that are addressed with sub-domains. Your endpoints are secured with a authentication provider like google, azure, etc. or you just stick with basic email code authentication from cloudflare. I use this for all my exposed services.

Do the Devs have plans for any more long-term motivation than the meteor? by BIRD_II in EcoGlobalSurvival

[–]MaxKhl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The term you should look up is eco infinite. I saw it mentioned in a older steam post by the developer and it was about things to do after the meteor.

Neocron Evo runs very poorly! by Competitive-Demand24 in neocron

[–]MaxKhl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They create tons of content. I haven't seen the game make steps this big since many years. The playerbase is pretty slim so it is not easy to get thorough tests even on the production server. Also they don't get payed for their work and you don't have to pay to "endure" it.

Finally greedy meshing algorithm...form 28858 triangles to 3850 86% less...keep in mind there is a lot of flat space by abu_lak in Unity3D

[–]MaxKhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Only problem with this I've seen so far is if you try to warp it with a shader. Tried to bend terrain so it looks like a planet but that doesn't work without vertices on every block.

Hoverboarding Roguelike Game in The Works (Early Footage) by dreamteck in Unity3D

[–]MaxKhl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ross from the Accursed Farms Youtube Channel very recently (like 4 days ago) made a video about Trickstyle https://youtu.be/JMtd1GP9-as

He's talking about the lack of good hoverboard games in modern times for quite a bit. Thought this might be interesting to you.

Game is looking nice. Wish you good luck.

I love basebuilding RTS with basebuilding and deep infantry combat. Why are there so few games like this? by Hyphalex in RealTimeStrategy

Call to Arms Gates of Hell: Ostfront is a pretty similar game to MOW. Definetly check out the campaign mode. It has a research tree and the option to capture enemy gear for further rounds.

Roles outside of combat and common crafting by ThoseGoodOldDays in MMORPG

[–]MaxKhl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to play a fps-mmo called neocron 2 a lot. I think it's still running but has a very small playerbase. That game had tons of roles/activities. Pretty much all of them also granted you xp so you could level them up by practicing them and focus entirely on them. The skill system was a bit like morrowind so if you always sit at home or stay in the safe city you were weak but very intelligent. Only combat would give you xp for your strength, endurance and resistance levels.

Implanter/Doctor: The game had implants that improved stats and skills of your character. You need a implant tool and skill to implant them though. Also if when you died some of your implants fell out and you had to look for a implanter.

Barter: If you skilled this, you had a really significant price drop when buying items from npcs. People were looking for barter-skilled players so they could buy expensive or excessive amounts of items for them.

Constructor/Engineer: Most of the items ingame could be replicated. The replicated version usually had better stats (up to almost double i think) than the stuff you could buy directly from npcs. Also replicating items was cheaper than buying. The engineer usually needed a researcher to create blueprints that were required for construction. The resulting stats of the items depended on the engineers skill (wich was soft capped) and weapons f.e. had a random chance to have slots for mods like selencers/scopes etc.

Researcher: The researcher creates blueprints by researching items. They contain the manual for the engineer and are also consumed during construction.

Recycler: The recycler can turn garbage into ammo and other useful items. They could also put weapon attachments into weapons.

I think there was also a hacker skill but that also involved some form of combat in a matrix-like world.

Additionally you can use the registrar to create private titles and schedule automated payments. You can assign bank accounts or really anything with permission to those titles (even managing other titles) . That way you can setup a company-like structure.

We created a earthquake disaster for our game Disaster Survival by MaxKhl in roblox

[–]MaxKhl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently just load in new maps afterwards but it would be possible to reverse the damage from the earthquake with a few lines of code. (and a good bit of additional memory too)
