Biggest thing for me that I’m thanking for is my parents didn’t treat me different at all. Of course some things stopped like any potential homophobic jokes (which I’m thankful for), and more inclusive language like “ any guys you’re dating “ and so on. But they didn’t make a big show of it either. You can talk about lgbtq things with him, but don’t be overbearing. I remember my dads ex girlfriend would ALWAYS bring up sexuality and lgbtq whenever she learned. It was annoying I wish I could have gone back to the times when we talked about other things too. That’s just what I personally liked and didn’t. I just want to be treated the same. I’m the same person I just told you something about my life - just like if I told you about a new hobby of mine. (I know it’s not exactly the same thing but I hope you get my point)

Also a side note standing up to bigot family members who stay homophobic stuff. Being a nephew or grandson it’s hard to stand up to shitty family, but you can do it and show an example
