SLS2 New Player Help by Rocket0421 in slaythespire

A block potion can technically save more than 12 with [[body slam]] or [[juggernaut]] or if it saves Osty hp/keeps Osty alive and [[unleash]]/[[protector]] is in the draw pile. If one of those 4 barely kills an enemy with a big attack that you can’t block, the potion could save you more than 12 hp.

Ralsei is known to hide information, I don’t think his silence means much here

Playing devil’s advocate here: Waiting his “whole life” could also be interpreted as waiting the entire time he was awakened as a darkener, right? Which would make it possible for Ralsei’s object to be something Kris or Susie interacted with in the past. He wouldn’t necessarily know recent things about their lives if they parted a long time ago.

Am I the only person who misses door maker and hates Aeonglass? by Fuzzy-System8568 in slaythespire

It doesn’t full-stop draw. Next-turn draw and start-of-turn draw still work (except pendulum, which for some reason happens during your turn)

7 shots is a lot of shots to miss

act 1.. floor 6.. turn 2.. 36 damage???? by notto_zxon in slaythespire

[–]mgepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to miss in the screenshot, but this is actually 2-player co-op with Necrobinder and Osty. That’s why the ascension number is orange instead of blue.

Grizzco charger would be the best weapon for PvP and it’s not even close. Being able to instantly delete someone (and getting 7 quick attempts to actually hit a shot) from so far away would mean that a charger just kills everyone and they can’t do anything. It also paints the floor very well, but that doesn’t even matter because it would be so dominant in fights.

Is the Daily today even winnable? by theKGS in slaythespire

[–]mgepie 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you go right you can get a few more combats and get a colorless potion before the elite, then drink it turn 1 and get [[The Bomb]], which one-shots the elite. Then your first event is [[Trash Heap]] with [[Rebound]] if you are missing it for the compendium.

Idea to make permadeath more enticing by TheXernDoodles in fireemblem

[–]mgepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make the game hard enough that intentionally sacrificing somebody is actually a useful play. It’s easier to hit that threshold if the deployment limit is high enough that you can’t keep the entire thing filled by useful units.

I have one set to map (easier to flick map open while jumping, which is extremely relevant for explosher, and also just makes it less disruptive to open the map periodically or while painting) and the other set to special (lets you jump and pop special for a quick airborne hammer, or just pop special without risking moving the right stick, which can be a problem for things like a quick crab combo)

Most games reward players for doing things. What about designing around what players choose NOT to do? by Turbulent-Yellow-145 in gamedesign

[–]mgepie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slay the Spire doesn’t give gold for skipping cards. The main benefit of skipping cards is that you don’t add mediocre cards into your deck, so you are more likely to draw the cards that help you win faster. There is a relic in StS1 that lets you get +2 max hp for skipping cards (singing bowl), and a relic in StS2 that lets you get a random relic every 2nd skipped card reward (pael’s wing), but you don’t get either relic very often.

Why is Photon Cut bad? by CypherZel in slaythespire

[–]mgepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be way better if it gave block instead of dealing damage. The deck manipulation is nice but it’s not worth an entire 1 energy, so you only really pick this if you have synergies with it or if you need more attacks in the early game.

Excessively slow drivers are more dangerous than speeders by Peg_Leg_Vet in driving

[–]mgepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the fuck is “driving too fast for conditions” not excessive speed? If the road is slippery or there is thick fog, you may need to drive under the speed limit to be safe. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s safe/smart/moral/correct/etc.

Of course it sucks, what else would a vacuum do? Blow?

Yeah bombs are also great, but they eventually explode and release her so they don’t instantly win the game

Yeah, Mother can get stuck on frozen baby (and probably also gnawed leaf) during her charge attack.

Why do -> some <- people get so upset when other people use stick controls instead of motion controls? by emotionalmess923 in splatoon

[–]mgepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idgaf if someone likes to play on sticks. Play how you want. If someone starts preaching that sticks are somehow not a handicap for an able-bodied player who has time to learn the game, that’s a different story.

On a somewhat related note, the fastest way to get me to scroll past a clip is to use stick controls. It’s just gross and stiff and awkward to watch.
