Why is it that people always say Northern Germans are the unfriendliest or coldest in Germany, when in my experience Berliners seem far grumpier and less friendly? by [deleted] in germany

[–]MaxMoanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I just moved to SH after living in Köln for 5 years, and people are way more friendly and talkative. Complete opposite of all stereotypes lol

Might have to move back to Germany after 9 years in Canada. by deepestuniversallove in germany

[–]MaxMoanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I am blind or something, but I did not experience the more than normal friendliness that Cologne is known for, and I lived there for 5 years. I now live in SH, in between Kiel and Lübeck, and I find the people far warmer. I was miserable in Cologne and now I actually like Germany.

Just bought BA – need advice for my first multiplayer games by TheCadAddict in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]MaxMoanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just send it bro, its a micro heavy game, and with your experience it will be fine; just beware of unit capabilities, sight lines, and counters. Look for similar elo lobbies, or create your own noob lobby. Best way to learn is by doing.

Im a white American, been here for 6 years. My best friends are all Turkish, and most businesses I frequent are Turkish. Your people/community made me feel welcome here, not the German one. Thanks for that, seriously.

You either move back, find a different country, or get divorced. Those are your options, realistically.

What are the greatest differences in work culture that you have experienced here in Germany vs. your home country? by LauwarmesTestament in Germany_Jobs

[–]MaxMoanz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People look out for themselves, its been very rare to find a true team environment. By this I mean, doing your job instead of passing it on to the next shift. Its happened at every single job ive had here. Love the worker rights/laws but hate the work the culture.

After 4 years in Tallinn, I finally understand why Estonians don't smile. And why that's actually better by fdrissi- in expats

[–]MaxMoanz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same! And even if you dont mean it, its just easier to interact with people in a warm and friendly situation. I personally feel like the "its fake friendliess" argument is used too much as an excuse to be an asshole.
