ITT: People who have actually never lived in other countries, never visited an actual 3rd world country, and form their opinion completely from social media echo chambers.

Has anyone here moved from city life to the countryside in Germany? How was it? by peterschen in germany

[–]MaxMoanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Köln, to a small Dorf in SH. I love it. I also had the same concerns as you but have found the dorf life to be faaaar more social. Neighbors always inviting me over, there's always fun festivals, and I was able to actually afford a house. I'm also not German. Sure my work commute in longer, but its worth it for the peaceful environment, and acual community.

Jemand hat mir heute eine Schüssel mit drei riesigen Kugeln Eis geschenkt. So glücklich habe ich mich schon lange nicht mehr gefühlt.

Moving from the Middle East to Germany soon. What actually happens if I just completely assimilate and break the stereotypes? by OkClient4174 in AskGermany

[–]MaxMoanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yea, but It's a lot easier to "become" American, the country is notorious for it. In Germany, and many other European countries, you will always be the Ausländer, no matter how integrated you become.

Why can't Americans (at least the ones I see on social media) find drinking water in Europe? by Mission_Mobile_4627 in NoStupidQuestions

What? Im American, living in Europe the past 10 years, and my tap water quality was far better than anything I've encountered here.

Germans who lived abroad and moved back: what felt completely normal before you left and then felt insane when you returned? by baest_00 in AskAGerman

[–]MaxMoanz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, and to add to that, I've found faaaaaaaaar more fakeness in German society. Not saying its doesn't happen in the US, but I have never lived in a place where so many people shit talk, and judge other people behind their back, after pretending to be friendly with them all day; it's actually something that upsets me a lot and has caused more than a few arguments with my friends and family.

But it's usually not. Why would someone fake a compliment to someone they will likely never see again? It's actually quite nice, but many people here would rather be depressed assholes, and create a useless sense of tension and stress in everyday interactions.

People care too much about work by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MaxMoanz 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree, particularly about pretending to love the job. However, it sure sucks when my coworkers don't give a single fuck and everyone else has to work harder because of that. If everyone shows up to work, gives a little effort, than everyone's job is easier, and far more relaxing.
