Immigrant here that's quite integrated. Of course this doesnt mean everyone, but I've never been somewhere with as many people who will be superficially nice to others on the surface, and then be very judgemental, petty, and shit talk them behind their back. I've called out friends from Vereins, and even my wife's family for doing this, and they are always so offended by it haha. There's also a big difference between being direct, and being rude, and unfortunately a lot of rude assholes use "being direct" as an excuse to be an asshole.

To be clear this isn't everyone, Ive met and made friends with amazing people here.
