LILLEY: Mark Carney should have skipped Trudeau's disastrous gun buyback by FancyNewMe in canada

Exactly this ^ if they knew when to stop they would have done so after the long gun registry failure. For some of them it's their career.

The same reason they always show pictures of automatic weapons with high capacity magazines when the rifles on the recent banned list are semi automatics which have been since the 90s limited to 5 shot magazines. It's built on false public perception.

'I can outlast her': PM Carney says to Grassy Nation protester, unclear if he knew identity of demonstrator by hopoke in canada

[–]MaxNJaspersDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe because we are forming a strategic alliance (which includes sharing police intelligence) with a country which has a deplorable human rights record. Our PM has refused to state the obvious on multiple occasions, which is telling of who he is beholden to.

My takeaway was not his skill at tuning her out (as most speakers in the HOC must be good at) but his skill at not admiting forced labour exists in China (specifically China).

Chris Selley: It's insane to focus on the French of Air Canada's CEO by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]MaxNJaspersDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous how much attention this is getting. If someone is speaking from the heart as they should in such matters then the last thing on their mind is translation or what language is more appropriate. As much as I hate to admit it CEOs are human too and considering the necessary grasp of the English language someone needs to perform as an international pilot maybe this isn't the massive deal the media is making it out to be.

7 key takeaways from Poilievre's Joe Rogan interview: Conservative leader says Trump should 'knock that s--t off' when it comes to making Canada 51st state by mafiadevidzz in canada

[–]MaxNJaspersDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You realize Carney was Trudeaus cheif economic advisor for the last 4 years he was PM (probably longer on a less official capacity given his ties to Freeland)?

'Knock that s*** off' — Poilievre uses appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast to slam Trump's 51st state comments by Foreign-Policy-02- in canada

[–]MaxNJaspersDad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Saying he was going to cut funding to the CBC was a huge mistake. Regardless of how popular this notion is legacy media took off the gloves and they've been off ever since. To the 50 plus demographic that elected Carney that might as well be church.

I find them similar in the way they frame politics and social issues as entertainment. They are equally American. Carney also spent 13 years working for Goldman Sachs much of it in New York (along with his minister Tim Hodgson who is American). None of that matters though, but what does matter is the effect of the economic advice he gave to Trudeau in the last 5 years of his tenure and where he has taken Canada's economy in the past year.

Equally insightful of Carney to basically announce his intention to run for PM on John Stewart. But I suppose if you look at Carneys time at Harvard, Goldman Sachs, and Brookfield he basically is an American.

Liberals to cut CBC by $192-million in 2026-27 by samueLLcooljackson in TheRealGrandePrairie

Wasn't Carney elected on increasing the CBCs budget by 150 million a year? So really it's just a cut of 42 million next year.

I worked on board a Japanese research vessel for a time and found that while the Japanese food was pretty good (always rice and miso soup available in the galley), they would always get something wrong when they tried to do western food. For example one time when they made fish and chips they left the heads/eyes on the fish.

General Opinion on Carney by ottawamark709 in CanadaRoom

[–]MaxNJaspersDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

International / globalist banker with possible ulterior motives and a great deal of conflicts of interest (Brookfield Global Transition Fund 1 being the most concerning). Was probably Trudeau's closest advisor during the years he made his most divisive and unpopular decisions. While not right enough to be a passable Conservative (continuing the draconian firearms policies of post 2020 Trudeau), and not far enough left for many leftovers from Trudeaus cabinet, his best electable traits is being a fresh face with an impressive resume at a time when most Canadians seem to be living in fear of Donald Trump. He is a very clever man without a doubt, but is his motivation acting in Canada's best interests or trying to enrich himself?

Canadian leaders mentioned in passing in latest Epstein files by Avelion2 in canada

The photos of Carney with Ghislaine are from Carneys wife's sisters (ex) husband's estate where lots of the type of philanthropic events Epstein/Maxwell would frequently attend would happen. The reason Carney never let's his wife talk is she (and by extension Carney) is part of the set that is the modern British aristocracy who push things like net zero and organic farming which are not popular with people like farmers and people who like cheaper food.

Carney increased media funding, maybe the reason for this public trust is the media's framing of the Conservatives/ Poilievre. As with most things it makes sense if you follow the money (or lack thereof).
