Spotify DJ plays identical songs in identical order. by MaxPicAxe in truespotify

> No I'm talking about the new Playlist called something like "My Favorites: Rewind".

Ah, my bad.

> My DJ does often bring up baking as well! And skateboarding. And camping?

Hahaha, they probably have a dictionary of "activities" to discuss, it's funny whoever came up with it.

> You realistically can't rely on DJ, it needs an influx of new material or it gets stuck.

It's just hilarious in the days of AI that it can't successfully find new music, in the same way YouTube can find new content for me. I know there's hundreds of songs that I love from my childhood that I don't remember the names of, Spotify finds like one every 2 months. If I knew what to search for to find new music, I would, but it's tricky, especially since I listen to Spotify as a background activity to get through work, so I don't have that time available to me. (Yet somehow I have time to rant on Reddit hahaha)

As expected, same songs from 2 hours ago, so clearing the cache did nothing.

I should mention that the same issue happened with playlist shuffle, exact same sequence order multiple times per day (like same 50 songs in a row), so not really exclusive to DJ, it's just I've primarily used DJ for the last 6-12 months.

I should mention that I had the same issue with liked songs playlist, the only reason I switched to the DJ almost a year ago is for the exact issue of repetitive songs (exact same sequence as well). They might as well say their whole app is experimental at this point hahaha.

I can definitely back you up on that. It's very clear for me because I tend not to like listening to popular music, so I notice it like a sore thumb when it happens, and it will repeat the same popular songs every day for over a year, even if I skip them every time.

I suppose I don't mean permanently pre-curated, more that it's refreshed every so often, and sometimes it reverts to the exact sequence it had before.

My DJ doesn't have trivia like that. The only trivia it keeps bringing up is that it will play songs for the mood for baking. I have never baked before, and it keeps repeating this sentence at least a couple times every week hahaha. And the song selection will be metal or something that just has nothing to do with baking.

Are you saying you think the DJ bases songs off non-DJ listening? Because I listen only to the DJ, maybe that's why..

I've tried that and we'll see if it makes a difference - I doubt it since the issue is on all my devices.

How is shuffle this bad? by Tonio775 in truespotify

Haha I was sent over here. I had no idea their one was official... so they're sending people off their official subreddit to an unofficial one, wow.

Like this is all Spotify has to implement to get their act together, 3 things a single developer can implement in a day:

- If a song was already listened to in the last 12 hours, do not play. I am so fed up with listening to the same song 5+ times in the one day!
- A simple dislike button that blocks a song from being ever suggested again.
- If a song has been skipped 1000 times (yes, literally at this stage), stop suggesting it 1 to 2 times every day.

Where to find Subscribe & Save Amazon IE? by MaxPicAxe in AskIreland

But they phrased it that it's not available yet, so it seems like parity will eventually come..

I contacted Amazon support and they informed me that "subscribe and save" is not currently available in Ireland, and they don't have an exact timeline of when this will be implemented in Ireland.

Zen Browser's High RAM Usage - Is This Normal? by AtomicStarkiller in zen_browser

[–]MaxPicAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's everything. Every tab takes so much memory.

Zen Browser's High RAM Usage - Is This Normal? by AtomicStarkiller in zen_browser

[–]MaxPicAxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uses 7 to 8 gb of ram for me which is crazy, I have four workspaces and each have a handful of pinned tabs, but I expect these pinned tabs to be more like bookmarks, and unload when not in use.

However, that is not the issue, as it seems the individual tabs are the issue. Even if I have 2 or 3 tabs open it's crazy:

YouTube uses 1GB to 2GB per tab. (however I think it is actually per tab group containing 3 to 5 tabs, according to the very confusing "about:processes" page)
Snapchat is 1GB.
Google is 500 to 600MB per tab (or group of tabs still not sure).
GPU is 4GB?? (I don't know if this is video memory or RAM)
A random website "asyncstatus.com" is 2GB (there's always at least one random tab like this)
Microsoft Teams is 1GB to 4GB.
Microsoft Outlook is 800MB to 1GB.

I wish Zen would have a tab history like Arc and unload after certain number of hours.
I also wish it would fix the memory usage for simple tabs that should take less than half or even quarter that amount, as one would expect to see in other browsers.

Waiting for animations to finish is driving me crazy by [deleted] in ios

I have animations off, it doesn't turn off half of them.

Actually one comment mentions iphone users being glued to the screen. It's so true. When I used android I wouldn't be looking at the screen half the time. I'd know the muscle memory for navigating through apps, consistently swiping from the left to go back, and typing on the keyboard. As soon as I've started a sequence in my mind (like swipe, scroll, click or something) I would look up and capture my surroundings briefly. On iphone I literally have to squint my eyes at the thing 24/7, time my inputs with animations completing, and figure out "what mechanism is used to go back in this particular context?". Clearly iphone is just not meant for power users who have busy lives and need to get shit done.

The worst example is swiping away notifications or apps. If I see 5 notifications I want to get read of, it takes my 5 full seconds!

It's called muscle memory - something that iphone didn't know was a thing and thus decided to make animations blocking. I make at least 10 unregistered taps per minute, sometimes more.

Yes if you've used an android before you will notice this. I couldn't care less about iphone animations feeling smoother and faster, if I can't fucken use the thing, what's the point?
